The pics don't do the lights justice. They light up the entire side of the car, past both bumpers, and they shine a good 4 feet on both sides of the car.

Yep. They come on when you unlock with the fob and turn off when you lock with the fob. If you leave the car unlocked they dim and fade out. They don't light up outside in the sun, the twilight sentinal keeps the interior lights from coming on when it senses sunlight.

That's a really good idea. Do they come on if you turn the interior lights on when you are driving? That's the only drawback I can see.

If you were to turn all your interior lights on while driving they will turn on. If I need light while I'm driving, well tht's what the overhead map lights are for. I'm working on a write up

didn't the 00 - 01 have a light bar under the vehicle for a puddle light?

I tapped into the lights in the footwells. The hardest part of the install is getting the wires into the car from the door. In '01 when they stopped the courtesy lights in the doors they removed the wires to the light housing from the door harness, they also went to the red housing from the smoked pieces.
