Exhaust 2.5 or 3

Post by necropentance »

So I'm getting headers and a down pipe soon and was wondering if i should stick with the 2.5 in from the cat back or just go 3in all the way out.
Think for yourself question authority.

The 2.5 is fine and will last awhile since it is SS, but if you want to you can change it. It is a matter of personal opinion, but will not change the performance of the car.

Unless you want a super loud car, stick with the stock exhaust and just put on headers and a HF cat. I love how harofreak00's car sounds with pacesetters, a 3" cat and stock cat-back. Little louder than stock at idle, and when you get on it, but no drone.

I've had 3" on my old SSEi. I lost a little low end torque from it, and maybe gained a little higher end hp, but nothing too noticeable either way. However, the sound was very loud compared to a normal exhaust. I would recommend the 2.5 with high flow parts. Most likely the best sound, best performance, and lower cost in the end.

Your 3" was a straight shot (no joke!) with no cat or resonator if I recall correctly...
