Hey everybody, i got a problem, i was trying to replace my fuel filter, but in the process broke the fuel line right before the metal fitting for the fuel filter. I was wondering if it would be easier to buy a repair kit or buy the whole fuel line. or would it be cheaper to take it to a mechanic? ive heard of dorman repair kits, but are there any oem replacement parts that are a direct fit?
Edit: bought the dorman fuel line repair kit, comes with a 30 inch long steel 3/8 fuel line, compression fitting, and a fitting on the flared end for the fuel filter. i heard that you arent supposed to use compression fittings as they dont hold the pressure or leak? can anyone verify? thanks in advance!

Re: Fuel Line broke
Have you checked the JY yet? Is it the line between the tank and filter, or the one between the filter and engine? Can you get a picture?

Re: Fuel Line broke
It's gotta be the metal line between the filter and the rail since the line to the tank is nylon.
Are replacement lines available?
Cutting and flairing in a new section wouldn't be that hard or expensive.

Re: Fuel Line broke
There's a Dorman HELP kit for just that purpose. Easy enough to install with a line cutter, good tubing bender, and the included compression fitting. It will take a few hours of mindless work to do it right.
Re: Fuel Line broke
Yeah, its the line from the filter to the pump. Im going to be cutting and flaring a new section of metal line in. Can i just put a straight pipe to replace the two 90 degree turns that lead to the filter?

Re: Fuel Line broke
Shouldn't make a difference, but I think the bends are there so when removing the fuel filter you cannot accidently twist the entire straight line?

Re: Fuel Line broke
If i cut off a piece of the fuel line after the the piece connected to the body that holds up the fuel lines, can i just slide the new fuel line i got in my repair kit? or are they really tight in there?

Re: Fuel Line broke
Its possible, not sure how tight it is. A bit of enginerring may get it on for sure, iF not cut the line back further to put a longer piece on. (Not sure what the kit consists of)
