charging problem
charging problem
I have a 2000 ssei. The problem is when the compressor for the air ride kicks on the check charging system warning comes on as well as the battery idiot light, tested the voltage going to the battery the alternator is charging fine. It didnt do it untill i had to fix coolant leak and i took the power cable off the power dist block and shorted it by mistake. Is it possible the battery could have been shorted and the draw from the compressor is making warning come on?

Re: charging problem
How do you know the alternator is charging fine? What does your driver's information center readout for voltage show while engine is off? While engine is running? When you turn on the rear window defroster or turn on the high blower?kaotikd wrote:I have a 2000 ssei. 12.6 v.? 14.5 v. approx? lower than the 2nd number by more than a couple of tenths?
My first guess would be the alternator isn't able to charge at full amperage due to internal damage.
Re: charging problem
I replaced alternator with another one and result is the same. When car is off the voltage is 12.9 volts when starts voltage remains same no matter what I do it doesn't move. The voltage at battery when running is 14.6 so I wonder if maybe the pcm is damaged.I don't think the compressor has anything to do with it. I have another pcm if I change it will I lose the key fob settings?
