2006 Lacrosse Clunk

Post by white06lacrossecxs »

On my 06 lacrosse Im having an occasional clunk on take off from a stop. It sounds like its coming from the back of the engine compartment / and I can feel it sometimes in the floor. It will even do it on occasion when turning to back out of the driveway, any ideas?

Not being familiar with the Lacrosse, I can only offer general suggestions. Start by checking the movement of the engine to see if it could be a loose motor mount. Also check steering, and suspension components. Tie rod ends, stabilizer links, bushings, etc.

Yeah if its in the suspension, its likely the sway bar end mount bushings... or the stabilzer links. I put on the Energy suspension sway bar end bushings, and they should mount right up on your vehicle with no mods. and they have a grease fitting. My suspension is better than new car, at this time and the steering as smooth as hell, never been better. And I just modified the rear springs to a softer ride. Pics soon. Tires/wheels/alignment soon. It took some work but its about there now.

When I looked at one of those in the dealership, they still used the marshmallow mount on the transmission just like our 2K+. As archon suggested, check the engine movement by putting the car in gear and while holding the brake, give it a little gas. The motor should not move a lot and if it does, there is probably a bad mount.
