Serial bus issues

Post by myfirstbonnie »

I have a problem with the 2k. Archon has been helping me, but we have gottten no where. Here is a recap.

It all started several months ago with just an annoying ding with no lights. this would just happen randomly while driving down the road.

After the header install the driver's window did not want to move. This took several weeks of it being on jack stands due to supplier issues. Just messing with the button got it to work.

Everything was fine with the occasional ding until the problem with the diff. This took several weeks of it being on jack stands while figuring out what to do. I replaced the pin in the diff and put a new housing on. When I took it off the stands is when this issue started.

Car went to trans shop and issue still remains.

Recap:
Driver's window will studder up and down but sometimes it works correctly. Auto down does not take the window all the way down even if the window moves smoothly.

The other three windows work intermittently, but when they do, they are smooth up and down.

No door lock functions, but fob activates locks on all but driver's door

Get a ding along with: ABS, TRACTION OFF, BRAKE lamps, TIRE PRESSURE displays all dashes instead of normal. When this happens, I can feel the ABS pump activate.

I get codes U1040 and U1064 when this happens, but not always the same (sometimes one or the other and sometimes both)

As of tonight, I got the air bag light, service air bag on DIC and it's own ding.

I removed the DDM and never got the lights or the ding, granted none of the door functions worked. Removed seats and carpets and checked all grounds, connections to the DIM, connections to the EBCM and hosed the car to make sure it was still leak free.

I put another DDM in and the issue remained.

Any ideas?

I would start checking the body control module. Check the power and ground feeds for constant, steady supply first. If that checks good, try a BCM. I bet Harofreak has a couple/few for a very reasonable price. The module will need to be programmed for the security system (can be done w/o scanner) and programmed for the vehicle options (need tech2 for this). If you can find a used BCM that came from a car with the exact same options, you may not need to reprogram it...aside from the security system, which can be done w/o scanner.

Disconnected the DIM, or BCM however you want to call it and had the same issues. Just added the security and radio locked. Plugged it back in and the new faults went away.

Thanks to Andrew, I got another driver's door wiring harness and got the issue fixed. The connector labeled C500 is in the door jamb and is where the DDH has a connector to the body. Pin C is circuit 351 which is the ground to all functions in the door with the exception of the window motor which has it's own ground.

As you can see in the following picture, the wire broke off right at the pin in the connector. The thing that I don't like is that there is no way to repair this without cutting the rubber boot off which would cause a water intrusion issue.

Hmmmmm. I wonder if that might not be my issue with my memory seats. I'll have to take a close look at the harness in the door. Glad to hear you got it fixed Matt!!

Can you describe where these grounds are? I found the thicker ground wire (12-14 ga) under the carpet, but not where it terminates. It has 3.5 ohms resistance with the chassis so I think its corroded. This probably isn't my problem but certainly isn't helping.

If you remove the trim panel at the feet of each side (where the hood release is) you will see one on each side. There are a couple on the floors under the carpet under the seats. The main ground off the battery to the chassis under the rear seat.
