Engine Deck Height Tolerance

Post by Schweet97Z »

Does anyone know what the deck height should be for my 2002 SSEi? Also what is the max tolerance that is allowed before the deck height needs machined?

Are you planning on rebuilding it? If you just want a new engine, you'll be wayyyy further ahead just installing a junkyard engine. However, if you wanna do a performance build, keep us informed.

Well thats my problem. Im trying to decide if I want to have the deck machined, or a crate motor from junk yard. This is my DD and its nothing but a headache at this point. I think its time to get rid of it.....The deck looks like its "warped" alittle. Thats why im asking what the height should be and what the max tolerance is. But if memory serves me correctly its .003" :bhuh:

Get a junkyard engine. You'll be way better off cost-wise.
