I have been trying to disable my DRL's for awhile now, but I have run into a problem. I have a 2005 SLE which happens to have many wiring scenarios which arent the same as other SLE's. For instance, my car runs the low beams for DRL's, not the high beams. This leads to my question/concern. When i pull relay 30, its only a 4 prong relay, with no center prong for the 87a. I know a "standard" SLE you just jump the 30 to 87a and your done, and supposedly this should still work on my car...BUT...within my fuse box, there isn't any contacts to insert a wire into the 87a hole (this can be seen below).....
So my question is..how do i Disable my Running Light? My thought would be to jump my 30 to 87...but im leary to try this since i could mess up something.....
ANY thoughts or suggestions are welcome!
Thanks, Eric
Here are a few pictures to help describe my scenario...
As far as I know, this car came from the factory this way. I just recently purchased the car about 4 months ago from and ederly lady which was the only owner of the car. She purchased it from an Indiana Dealership and had all the service done there....if the car came out of Canada..im not sure....
There have been several situations where my car is different than other bonnevilles like i mentioned before: 1. My car DOESNT have the Bose or Monsoon sound system...no amp or anything 2. Has only 4 speakers (6 counting tweeters) inside the cab...no speakers in the back doors...
Those are just a couple off the top of my head...and well now the relay scenario..
Thanks for taking the time to reply....any/all other suggestions welcome!!!!
The stereo stuff which you're describing is only on SSEi's/GXP's, the "Top of the Line" Bonnevilles 00+. Same as all the other SLE's I've seen.

Oh, i wasnt aware of that. I really wanted to go with one of the High Performance Bonnevilles, but i couldnt justify spending the extra $$ while still being in school. And with the miles i have been putting on..the 35+ MPG is nice! I will get me a sports car sometime in my future!!! haha
Would a wiring diagram of this relay or fuse box be any help?
As far as I knew, factory DRL used high beam lamps at half intensity. However, that is in my 97 manual which may be completely different from your 2005. Maybe some one here can tell you if factory DRL on the 2005 Bonnevilles use high beams at half intensity. If so, you have an aftermarket DRL.
From what i have read...the 2005 as well run the high beams as DRL's at half intensity, exactly like what you said. Im not sure why my car is different, but it is and it seems to have everyone scratching there heads....or the people i have asked anyway. I really want to try jumping 30 to 87 and see what happens...probably blow the whole wiring harness...would any wiring diagrams explain this??
Just for the heck of it,, pull the headlamp high beam relay. What does that look like? That should have just 4 terminals. I'm wondering if your car is wired like a GXP that shows using the low beams for the DRLs.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I will pull that relay when i get home and back by the car. I will get back to you on that one. If this were the case (wired like a GXP, and high beam relay has 4 terminals) what is the process of DRL's? (if you know, i see you have a 2000 SSEi)
Well you nailed this one on the head, i pulled the high beam relay and my Running lights are now disabled! So i guess this tells me my car is wired like a GXP so i should know to check that section possibly on other wiring scenarios. Thanks a ton for the suggestion that was able to solve this head ache for a couple weeks now.
Also thanks to all others who have helped along the way and offered suggestions!!!
I'm not sure why you want your DRL disabled, unless it's simply because it was using your low beams for the DRL. As a pedestrian, I look, and I teach my son to look for DRL to determine if a car is about to pull out from a parking spot. If I see a car with DRL on, I give that car a wide berth or even wait to determine if they are really going to move or not.
The bottom line is, I consider DRL to be an important safety feature for others, not so much for the driver. I guess I'm suggesting you try to see if you can set up your DRL to work off the high beams at half intensity instead.
DRL are not required in the states. So that logic of looking for the lights doesn't work here.

I am running my fogs as my running lights now, they are always on, not white, they are blue, but they are at least lights that im running. I just didnt want my low beams and fogs on at the same time...I will be posting pictures soon of my car to clear things up!!!
I'm glad to hear that you are at least running a different kind light in place of the DRL.
Here in Canada, it would be kind of freaky to be walking in a parking lot and suddenly see a car with no lights at all moving. I'm always careful, of course, but if I see DRL I stop right away and yield the right of way to the driver as I would if I saw reverse lights on.
