Hi. Replaced ISS and steeringwheel sensor at the same time but am left with a small
black male connector with two wires.
1- black and checked out to be a wire to ground.
2- green wire with a yellow tracer.
I cannot find where it does connect to and everything seems to work properly but
would like to know where that connector hooked up to.
Can you have a look in your manual and see where this commector hooks up to or
where the wires come from.
TIA jacob

I took a look today and couldn't locate a schematic for the steering system I'll keep looking as the manual can be a little tricky finding things sometimes. the only thing I did find is this drawing(having trouble posting the drawing) although I don't believe this is what your looking for because it says this is a yellow connector located on the bottom side of the colunm. I'll post again if I find something.

I had the same issue on the 03 SSEi I just sold, and the 02 SSEi I parted out. Both had that random connector hanging there, not plugged into anything.

FSM says its "A/T Shift Lock Control Solenoid Supply Voltage" in the C5 terminal with DK GRN/WHT wires.

I wouldn't worry about it... it doesn't appear to be used.

Velo, sounds like the Shift Lock control mechanism, which is what requires you to press the brake pedal to shift out of park.

Can you shift your transmission out of park without pressing the brake pedal?

If yes: You need to find the other end and hook this up.
If No: I wouldn't sweat it. My guess is, it is the wiring harness for this feature for column mounted shifted cars. Since all ours are center console mounted shifters, the Shift Lock control wiring is actually there instead. Over the past 10, well maybe 15 years, GM has gone to pretty much one wiring harness on a vehicle, more commonly called a "modular" harness. This despite whether or not you have certain equipment/options. In the long run it is cheaper for them to have a few spare unused connectors in a bundle, than to custom tailer a wiring harness to each specific vehicle.

Well that's exactly what I would have thought when I went to install the CDX in mine, but the modular harness rule didn't apply. The connector and wiring for the CDX wasn't there. But I lucked out cuz mine at least had XM, which cut my wiring task down to a minimum.

You want what is referred to as the Factory Service Manual (FSM). It is model year specific and has everything in detail for your car. The Haynes manual you are looking at is probably the same thing they sell at the local parts store. There are a lot of changes that they try to cover in a few pages. They might be good for some general knowledge, but I will never go without the FSM for any of mine. They are worth every penny spent on them.
