Hello,
I know related topics have been discussed here but in a different context.
I notice alot of dimming headlights when I hit the brakes and manuever for parking. The battery was replaced before and made no difference. but it is about due for an alternator/reg. Can I replace the stock 105A alternator with a 140A or will it start throwing codes, popping fuses and/or burning wires? Would the mounting holes be the same? Just curious.

Re: 105 to 140 amp alternator
i believe that the mounting and the belt size would stay the same it just has to do with the way the alternator is wound internally. as for blowing fuses and whatnot, not a concern, it just means the charging system can withstand more draw. hope this helps.

Ok thanks for the info.

This happened to me on another vehicle. I had low voltage. At about 120k I think. After disconnecting and clean the connections to the alternator, all the symptoms went away. My brother drives the car still with 160k on the orig alt.
