Does anybody have advice for removing water spots from the windows?

If glass cleaner and a rag won't do it, either a clay bar or #0000 steel wool with some glass cleaner as a lubricant (non-ammonia based) should remove them.

The white is usually from calcium. Try some vinegar, as it dissolves calcium.
