Had to remove some covers as explained later and cut the black rubberlike cover all the way lenghtwise and removing it from the steering column
Decided to order the new shaft and because I also got the "stablity system message" I also ordered the steering wheel
sensor so I could do both jobs at the same time.
Looked at the instructions on this forum and would like to ad some comments.
First the steering wheel asymbly can be removed with only removing the knee bolster then the cover under the steering wheel which houses the small entry lite and temperature sensor.
Then after removing a couple of brackets with a 10m/m socket the steering column can be removed by removing the 4 nuts
(13m/m) and removing the ISS connection also a 13m/m nut and disconecting the wiring plugs.
No need to remove the plastic around the gage cluster or around the steering column.
Removed the ISS by jacking the car put it on a stand and reoving the bolt on the ISS which was a 11 m/m bolt on my car.
Pulled the ISS out from inside the car and shoved the new one down the clear plastic cover with a little effort the ISS slipped on the steering rack so I put some special blue Locktite on the 11m/m bolt and covered it up with the clear plastic cover.
Took the complete steering culum turned it upside down on a old blanket and removed the steering wheel sensor and put everything together.
All seem to be working very well and the steering is supeer smooth, the only thing is the steering wheel is just a bit of the horizon but I will fix that with the outer tie rods (22m/m nuts)
