Amp with factory head unit

Post by marrober9 »

Hi I own a 2001 Bonneville which has the factory head unit. It is a tapedeck/cdplayer unit which is non Bose. I have a 4 channel 400 watt amplifier along with after market speakers i would like to install. I would like to connect my amp to the factory head unit. this way it still looks stock and keeps steering wheel remote function. Does anyone know what i will need for this install. Thanks

If your amp has a high-level input, you can connect it directly to the speaker outputs of your factory deck. If the amp only has low-level inputs (RCA jacks) you'll need to get a line-out converter, which reduces the voltage of the speaker output to preamp level.
