93 ssei interchangeable?

Post by smithd2424 »

So i've made the decision to spend some money on my bonnie on an engine swap. Any recommendations? I am thinking about stage 2 3.8l SC or go northstar v8? What motors actually bolt right on to mine? Id like to install performance engine, please let me know recommendations. Also what tranny would be recommended for engine as well?

Northstar just isn't going to happen. A Series 2 L67 would be a fairly easy swap, along with the 4T65E-HD to go with it. You'd have to make some wiring changes, and swap out the PCM, but it's all been done before and the guys here would probably be glad to help you with anything that hangs you up.

If you really want a series 2, get a donor car, not just the engine. If you want an easier installation with minimal headaches, stay with a series 1.

You will need the motor, trans, wiring harness, PCM, and axles. Best bet is to get the donor car as mentioned, and just drop the whole drivetrain on the subframe and swap in everything from the subframe upwards. This will also get you the AC Compressor ready to roll with R134A, as R12 is very hard to find and very expensive.

You will want the factory service manuals for BOTH cars.

Or sell your 93 and buy a newer car.

I meant a newer supercharged car... Swapping parts in and out of various years/models will never be as idiot proof as the OE setup.

But 'dubs can be a good upgrade from a '93 now that you mention it!
