which one is better gtp or regal gs

Regal GS all the way! I personally like the Regal because it's pretty low profile, more of a sleeper. Anything performance wise that you can do to a GTP you can do to the GS. It's got a more luxurious feel like the Bonnies and the seats are pretty comfy too. I just cracked off a 14.5 at the track this past week with a pulley and intake. At 160k miles, the suspension is a little tired but the ride is still nice, smooth like a grandpa car but a simple set of front end links really made a noticable difference. There are much less appearance mods (off the shelf) for the Regal though. (I hate drunk drivers too...)

I agree. I've been in both, I find the Regal GS to be a superior car, again like said above, whatever mods can be done to one can be done to the other. I find the interior fit & finish on the Regal to be of higher quality, also the car has a much better potential to be a sleeper.

I much prefer the interior design of the GS to the GTP, much more modern and less.... ugly pontiac-y

I used to think regals were boring until I browsed for a bit on regalgs.org..... with just a few visual mods they can look very sharp in my opinion

Same, I would pick the Regal. More refined, same performance.

Buick FTW! :) No offense to the GP guys but I honestly can not stand riding in the 97-03's they just make me super carsick for some reason, but no problem at all with the regal, funny as i can't imagine they're being that much difference structurally.

Regal GS. It makes the kids in Civics that much more surprised when a supposed "grandpa" car just spanked them.

Lol quite possible, the front end is pretty cool but they tail lights are kind of awkward. I think it's just the low cramped feeling more than anything, it feels too much like riding in a coffin.

Coming from someone who's owned a GS and GTP....I have to say I'm not really a fan of either car.

I really did not like the GTP at all. I liked it so little that I only kept it for three months. Just wasn't my thing - cheap interior, super stiff suspension, and too much of a "kid's car" for me.

Now, for the GS, I didn't care for it, but I didn't not like it as much as I hated the GTP (if that makes any sense). We had our GS for about two years and it was a good car mechanically. We did a lot of driving in it and it never let us down. I agree with Haro that the interior is nothing too exciting (but what GM car from that era really does have an exciting interior??).

If I had to do it all over again and only had two options - I'd go for the GS. Actually, I'd go for the LSE since I really like the L36.

Calling the regal refined versus the GTP is like saying you'd rather get headshot with a .22 than a 9mm.

They're the exact same chassis, GTP normally will have stiffer suspension, but i'm sure the GS can come with the sport stuff too. "Stiff" OEM suspension is still fairly comfy. Between the two the seats and controls are probably the biggest differences inside, if you love/hate one of them, then that's hard to ignore.

Personally i'd look at which one was in better shape mechanically, less wear and tear, straighter metal body work.

thanks for the info my wife wants a gtp so that is the first.. if not that then the regal gs... its going to be hard to find a gtp in good shape that a kid has not had a hold of it..and i told her that so she said if i don't find one that was as good as mine then get the gs . are the regal,s trans geared the same as a gtp and are the pcm the same?as in timing shift points and so on..

Two words...lumbar support...GTP has it, GS doesn't. That may be chicken feed to most, but I have lower back issues and that was the one thing that made me hate the seats in the '99 GS I had. I couldn't get comfortable in those seats. Yah, I know, you can buy lumbar pillows. I do agree the ride of the GS is a little more forgiving than the GTP.
