Re: borla vs magnaflow
I have Borla on my 4.0L Jeep and Magnaflows on both my Bird and Bullet.
They all sound different but that's due to the difference in engines.
They are both built the same way and with the same materials. Go with whichever is less expensive and go with the largest that will fit.

Re: borla vs magnaflow
This is the best sounding muffler for the SSEi that I've heard
http://www.holley.com/types/Aero%20Chamber.asp
and this one also sounds good
http://www.holley.com/types/Maximum%20Flow.asp
I have the Aero Chamber mufflers(been on the car for over 8 years) and they sound great.
They sound the same today as they did when I put them on over 8 years ago(no packing to burn out).

Re: borla vs magnaflow
For the 2000+ Bonneville crowd I suggest finding youtube (or other) video/sound clips of 97+ GRand Prix's with the exhaust you are looking into.
I can tell you I LOVE my Borla on my 99 SSEi, but the exhaust from just forward of the rear wheels is totally different than 00+ and the 97+ GP's have an almost identical exhaust system.
Magnaflow, is my 2nd favorite for this older Gen H-body.

Re: borla vs magnaflow
I've had the Borla on my Jeep for 15 years and it looks and sounds as good as the day I installed it.
