2008 Altima 2.5L tapping/ticking noise.
Long story short, the car ran over a concrete stump and smashed the hell out the oil pan causing the oil to spill out. The car was drove about 2 blocks to be parked in a safe place to be worked on. After I replaced the oil pan I hear this ticking/tapping noise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RftpHrpdGI. There isn't any oil seeping from the oil pan, because I thought it could be an oil pressure issue. I'm just trying to get some idea's to what it could be before I took to a shop. The noise doesn't sound as bad as in the video, but you can hear it real good when the car is parked or stopped. Thanks for any inputs.

2 blocks, 2 miles... its about the same when your engine doesn't have any oil.
That sounds like clunking, not ticking to me. I'd guess that the bottom end is on the way out the door.

man, I was hoping for a simple, easy solution like "just change your oil filter and everything will run fine." lol

So I may be looking at possible repair or another engine?

Not a good noise at all. And if it was an oil pressure issue, it would have been corrected when the oil pan was put back on and refilled, unless a pickup came loose or something, but that would have been detected very easily, and likely something checked while the pan was off.
I am guessing rod knock.
Plan on new engine, but get it looked at to trace the precise cause and find possible solutions.

And on that car its a lot easier to R&R the motor than it is to fix anything in it.....

It'll be an in-demand motor too, so I expect prices to be higher. The QR25DE isn't the most reliable motor, they were plagued with some intake runner butterfly valve and pre-cat issues with earlier years - not sure if '08 is part of the mix.

I see a couple on ebay for around $1,000 up to $1,500. I'm kind of glad about that. But I'm hoping I can get it replaced or something for a little cheaper.

Check your local yards...or car-part.com...they might be able to hook you up with a better price, if you have a friend with a truck that can help you pick it up.
Remember that if you have to ship it, it's $150 usually to a commercial address, and then you still have to get it home. Twice as much to your house, if they even offer it.
