Re: 2005 Bonneville SLE Spark plug
If you are having trouble getting the wire boot off the plug, there are cheap plug wire removal tools. I've never used them, so I can't say how effective they are.

WHITE WHINE - 1992 SSE Supercharged 236.26 ci (.040 Over) 15.090 at 90.2 MPH on old engine w/ slipping trans & melted O2 sensor - Gen 3 M62 and matching TB, Gen 2 Pully, Zillamotorsports Ported LIM, YT 1.72 Roller Rockers, SII FPR & Injectors, Hypertech Thermomaster chip w/ 160 Thermo, TransGo Shift Kit, Infinity/Pioneer Speakers & a 10" Alpine Type R Sub, all the watts, 140 amp Alternator, Ricepipe CAI w/ heatshield, Pilot Angel Eye Foglights, Clear Corners, '02 17" Chrome Bent 5's, Magnaflow F-Body Muffler and Hi-flo Cat, Ceramic Coated Ported Exhaust Manifolds, Fan Override, Monroe Reflex struts, red calipers
2009 G8 GT - Sport Red Metallic, loaded, SOLO Axlebacks, Rotofab Intake, Tuned, autodim mirror, removed intake manifold cover, HSV GTS triple gauge pod, two tone red-hot shifter and HSV SuperSport steering wheel, GXP rear sway bar and diffuser, 3.45 diff and various Camaro suspension bits, LED Taillights

They can be very hard to remove, in particular the back ones, especially if they have been on the car for a while. Whatever goop was used originally glues itself to the plug. It comes down to twist and pull, several times. Some remove the rear engine lift bracket to get more room. If you have to, you could use some vise grips on the boot, being careful not to crush the metal sleeve. Either way, plan on replacing the wires. Liberal use of dielectric grease on the boots when you replace them will make the next time a lot easier.

I did that but I could not pull the boot off. I am very afraid to break plug and cable.Archon wrote:They can be very hard to remove, in particular the back ones, especially if they have been on the car for a while. "It comes down to twist and pull" meaning is push boot and twist certain angle?

Re: 2005 Bonneville SLE Spark plug
I had a very difficult time removing mine. I finally went down to Harbor Freight and bought some 11" needle nose pliers with a right angle bend at the tip. these worked very well to remove mine. I tried two of the boot pullers sold at the auto parts stores, but those tools bent and the plugs didnt budge.
Good Luck, and x2 on the dielectric grease on the new plugs.

Push the metal shields in as far as you can, then twist the boot while also pulling. The spark plug cables should be replaced, and if you break the plug, just replace that too....which I assume you're doing anyway?

Finally I removed them, but one wire was busted. I will insatll new wire and use dielectric grease on the boots. Thanks.Archon wrote:They can be very hard to remove, in particular the back ones, especially if they have been on the car for a while. Whatever goop was used originally glues itself to the plug.
