Speaker Decision

In the coming months, I'm planning on replacing the stock speakers in my Bonneville. For the front, I am going with a component system - so I have that figured out. What I'm wondering is, for the back (doors and deck), should I go with 3-way speakers, or 2-way; or should one set be 3-way and the other be 2-way? Would it make a difference (I'm sure it probably would) either way?

Just seeing what some of you audio guys think.

BTW, I am keeping the stock head unit for the time being, so that won't play a part.

Get a set of really nice components for the front. The back speakers are for fill, and any bass you can get out of them. If there is a good deal to be had on three ways for the back doors, go for it, but two ways would be fine too. Just use two ways in the back deck (all that sound is refected off the glass window anyway so they are not the speakers to splurge on, the front door speakers are where you want the $$.

Thats my opinion anyway ;)

That is a good point on the deck speakers, reflecting off the rear window (never gave that much thought). Yeah, I could do 2-ways for the deck. Maybe as you said, to save some money, I could just stick with 2-ways for the back, since people don't really ride back there, and I'm the one always driving anyway.

I have 3 ways in the back, and it's actually not bad. if i had the choice, i'd put 2 ways in the rear package tray, and component 3's up front with crossovers. :)

Yeah, I am definitely going with a good component system up front - kind of what I should have done in the LeSabre, but that boat has sailed.
