caliper paint
What are the pros and cons of using VHT paint on my calipers vs. using the standard Duplicolor kit? Don't even know if VHT can be used for that appplication. Any help would be great!!! thanks

Re: caliper paint
I just used paint that was rated for 500* and spray-painted them on the car. Been holding up fine so far. Did it on the Bonneville and did it twice on the Saab.
EDIT: What I was saying is that IMO any paint rated for high temps will do just fine. I used the cheapest 500* spray paint because I didn't want to brush it on.

Re: caliper paint
so the spray stuff will work just fine then?
oh, was also wondering if being VHT, will it last longer than the kit paint?
looking to paint mine silver (which shouldn't be hard to find). Forgot the name of the manufacturer, but this company has VHT rated up to 2000*

Re: caliper paint
I used Duplicolor Engine Paint and it's been great. One spray can lasted me like a few years. Used it once on the Bonneville, then the Saab. Still have plenty left and only paid 5 bucks.

Re: caliper paint
I second the Duplicolor engine paint. I used that on mine, and it looks great. Just make sure to let it dry VERY well before you put them back on the car.

Re: caliper paint
They make silver, caliper specific paint. It comes in a rattle can, and is supposedly good for 500* and resists brake dust. I have a can of silver and one of black, and I got one at Advance and one at NAPA. Anywhere that sells Duplicolor stuff should have it.

Re: caliper paint
I don't think any special paint is necessary. I used POR15 on my SSEi and Rustoleum on Shannon's. Both are holding up just fine.

Re: caliper paint
decided on silver, but with my car having the steel blue metallic scheme, still wondering if any other color paint would look good on the calipers? hmmmmmmm
