Re: Speeding Ticket!
The speed limits are 70 down here also. But everybody does 80-85 in good weather. Well, except me doing 65-70 in the right lane. Whatever, they're not paying for my gas.
The first sign of a cop or traffic, folks slow down to the speed limit.

Re: Speeding Ticket!
I usually run 75-80 Through SC and NC... I see the State police/Patrol sitting off on the side of the road clocking people...
I'd be running in the left lane behind traffic.. and then BAM, the person ahead of me see the cops and Slams on the brakes... all of the sudden we are doing 55 in a 70...WTF... This actually happened on my last trip up... GPS showed me at 76 and I had the cruise set...

There is noone else on the roads really..
One or two people but we can go 5 mins at that speed and not see anyone..
And of course we slow down around the general Public.
Its not like we go doing 110 in school zones (it actually happened In Grande Praire)
Its a purpose Built toy.
We lack a dragstrip and roadcourse.
So we take it out on the highway on a nice quiet day once or twice a year..
And the 140 is normally keeping up with traffic. Also bear in mind KM/H not MP/H.

Re: Speeding Ticket!
Yeah, I pretty much PEAK doing 140 for no more than a few seconds in "thin" traffic in this urban area. It's still very rare that I do so.
100-120 is the norm on the highways.

Re: Speeding Ticket!
140 in Ontario is bad if they catch you. I love those signs they used to (do they still?) have listing the fines for going so much over the posted speed limit. 110 was a slap on the wrist, 120 was hurting, and 130 was where you needed a lawyer. 140 (*EDIT: 150) they crush your car. And the moron legislator who came up with that is in trouble for hitting a cyclist on purpose. But 140's still bad, m'kay?

Re: Speeding Ticket!
It's 150, and they seize your car and license for 7 days
Also, I don't blame the guy for the cyclist incident, but I still think in general he's an idiot. Apparently after some sort of altercation the cyclist tried hanging onto the headrest of his open top convertible, you bet in that situation I'd be booting it out of there too.
