Coolant Leak
About once a week, my car will dump coolant in the floor of my garage. It appears to be coming from somewhere on the passenger side, possibly behind the tire, but other than that I really can't tell. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to track this down? Thanks.

Re: Coolant Leak
When you turn off a warm engine, the coolant will pressurize and if you have a weak point, it will leak out until the pressure reduces.
I would suggest checking the water pump or it could be a coolant elbow. All are on the passenger side.

This is a picture from Bill Buttermore that shows several locations to check. The main difference is that yours will have a plastic coolant elbow at point 2.

Re: Coolant Leak
i had similar problem except the dump would depend on outside temperature. as the weather got cooler, the dump would intensify. i put gm stop leak tabs in radiator with no help. as long as the weather stayed above 60 degrees there was no leak at all. very strange. problem was resolved when i replaced the plastic coolant elbow between lower intake manifold and tensioner assembly. as previous post mentioned, it could also be waterpump shaft seal.
to prove which it might be, stuff piece of paper towel underneath coolant elbow and examine for leak. if not there, likely waterpump.
forgot to mention that my vehicle wouldn't leak during use. i guess engine coming to temperature simulated warmer weather. car would have to sit overnight to allow engine to cool to outside temp.

Re: Coolant Leak
I have the same magnaflow and have nothing but good things to say, my brother got his from ebay but I wanted a valid warranty(I have had problems with ebay sellers before) so I got it here. magnaflow 16480, or you can try one of the vendors here on the forum selling magnaflow, they are allways having sales/specials on the forums. It is nicely built and sounds great I think.
