John, he means blown as in blown-up, catastrophic failure, etc.wjcollier07 wrote:A blown LN3? What the heck?That's...not an everyday find.

my kid, no way I'm only 25 and that hard working wagon belongs to my now grown up siblings.
Is it going to be the t-type when it is done? I am not sure I follow?

here are some pics of the tear down of the motor so far over the past couple nights. Have not had as much time as I wanted to work on it but hey whatever. Some pics:

Got the Trans off and just need to get some bolts for the engine stand then I can resume the tear down. Gonna clean it all up first then go from there.

Oh by the way, like i said the motor came from a pretty clean PA, it has AC delco plugs, a AC delco starter, and a Delphi AC compressor. This is starting to lead my this is a lower mile motor...I hope at least.
This may be a retarded question but...any of the ID tags or bar codes on the motor have any info about the car on them like the vin or something, would love to know the mileage.

I THINK ( do not quote me on this as i have no proof or evidence or solid knowledge ) that you can get the id numbers off the mototr and see when it was produced and what internals it has etc and what vehicle it was placed in originally. But i thought the one on the trans was the same as the vin the vehicle was originally from. Unless it has more than one.. IDK that was 100% speculation and could very well be wrong.

First off, nice garage!
And glad to see the project is still going forward. Is the replacement chassis en route yet?
We would talk about your old LN3 and trans if I had a truck and was closer

The "new" car arrives tomorrow, about time too.
Ya the garage is the best thing my Dad and I have done to the house, love it.
I will be selling the LN3 parts of both motors and some stock L67 parts as well.

the garage looks like something I would see on Garage Journal. We spend a good amount of time in ours too.Tricked-T wrote:The "new" car arrives tomorrow, about time too.

I do need a few odds and ends, but was looking to have a complete one around to freshen up. My wife doesn't want to part with her 1990 for some time. Paid for, she loves it, end of story.
Really the ideal situation there to have a donor car, to have while you do this. Never know what you might encounter, wiring wise

Ya I wish I had the extra room for a SSEi donor car, because this would have been 10 times easier but our neighbors would bitch till no end so had to do it the hard way.

Re: 89 Lesabre T-type resto / L67 swap has begun
I have to say this car is even better than I expected. Out of all the t-types I have owned this is the lowest mile, and one with the least rust. Lucky for me they do not use salt in the area of Washington the car was at. It is not real clean but that doesn't matter as you all know. I am real excited to get this project on the move again. Here are just some quick pics. I hope to have it ready to go to paint by Monday. I know the paint doesn't look bad, and it isn't, but it will be getting a respray so it looks new along with all the new parts it will get.
Look ma' no rust!
:sad5: My old T waiting for its certain fate. I really wish I could save it...
Kind of weird site to be honest
Really straight dash
Well if you look at the pics of the last car and all of the rusty spots and the pics of this car it is clear this is a much better car and it will save me a lot of money in rust repairs.
More updates to come...

ya the black piece that goes around the plate. I dunno what its called lol. email me at atjones44@hotmail.com i forgot ur address, i'll ship out those brake deals asap
Ya lesabret.com has been down for like a week now...hmm
I got some cool stuff to post about running our stock ttype front mount by the AC compressor.
modified the old ttype bracket and it fits in right behind the series 2 ac compressor bracket. to allow our stock mount to use the bonne subframe and do away with that PITA mount over the waterpump. Will bolt in like stock. And no need to run that other mount. it is a pita anyways...i think the other on the subframe is stronger neways. rwd cars have what 3???? we would be using 4 mounts...should be as rock solid as our stock LN3 in our t's.
Check out these pics:
moded front passenger side ac bracket originally off ttype to fit in bonne subframe (provisions for mount are already there just not used in the 96+ bonnevilles for some reason they used the engine mount/bracket deal that covers the waterpump *shoot*...PITA if u ask me) using stock lesabre mount and doing away with that waterpump mount *shoot*.
used series 2 ac bracket on the series 3 motor so i can run ac delete on my lesabre ttype swap:

here it is installed:

precision next to the oil dipstick:

here i used my awesome miller welder i recently got (miller ftw) had to modify the rear drivers side mount. as u can see in these few pics the issue with the case changess from 97-02, to 03+. I used a 1/2" long bolt sleeve on a extra stud i had to get the right side of the mount equally as far out as the left side since it is different as well.
dirty but pic with sleeve

and here it is modified so it'll fit a series 3 03+ trans:
