General rule of thumb for two new tires is always on the back so you can stay in control, as you've found out, it's not easy controlling a car with massive front end grip, and nothing out back!

I know you know, but everyone should ALWAYS run 4 winter tires, not 2 winter 2 AS. Just asking to lose control in an emergency maneuver.
