Turn signals stay on

Post by aCiD »

So we had an issue with the flasher unit like 6 months ago, replaced it, and all was fine.

Figured it died again recently, so I got a new good one today, but hasn't fixed it, what happens is you set your turn signal to left (or right, or hazards), and the light just stay on.

The turn signal fuse is fine also. What else would it be?

thanks.

A quick Idunno, That problem has always been the flasher in my 94SE. Check that you are getting solid connections in your circuit. The wiring diagram is in the Chilton manual. It's a simple circuit for my car probably yours too. You should be able to locate the bad connection with that. Or it may be on the outside chance a bad flasher can, again.

A mechanic friend just said it's likely a bad contact on the indicator switch in the steering column, and that it was a terribly difficult job... :(

Anyone done that repair before?

yes. bad contact. Ever see someones flashers going down the road and they blink extremely fast (faster than normal)? They have a bad contact. Check that. Its most likely the problem.

That's a burnt out bulb. Different animal

edit: Something similar happened on my mom's Nissan, and by some freak incident, after I tried the four-way flashers (which worked fine), the normal signals came back to life and have been good since. Worth a shot? :???:

Yea, that's a burnt out bulb, that happens on purpose.

I tried the 4 ways, they did nothing at all.

Check all your bulbs looking for burnt filaments inside them. Look for moisture in the lenses and housings.
