As some of you may already know, I bought dillcc's old 99 SSEi. The engine ended up throwing a rod shortly after I got it, so I am in the process of swapping in a engine and trans from a 1999 Park Avenue Ultra. I haven't taken a lot of pictures because my hands are usually so dirty I don't want to touch the camera. I've torn down the whole engine that came out of the SSEi and found a big chunk that came off the block after everything was removed along with a mangle piston.
I'm now waiting for parts for the new engine then I will start putting it back together.
Enjoy.

I'm still in total shock that happenned!!! I'm glad you weren't planning to use my old engine, but I still feel really bad. That's about the last thing I thought could go wrong.
I am in awe too, it was running great, no KR even. I probably would have still used that engine, just demodded it, but I had plans to replace the trans so it didn't cost me too much more since I got a good deal on that Park Avenue. I'm just glad I didn't drive it home from Madison and have it happen.

Now that's something you don't see everyday. Was the piston stuck in the cylinder bore? Just looking at it, I'd guess that the skirt failed and the piston got hung up in the bore.
Bye Bye 1990 Bonneville LE... Now it belongs to my daughter

Haven't really been updating much, but I got the new engine dropped into place yesterday, and finished hooking things up tonight. at 12:30 a.m. I turned it over, it fired up and she purred like a kitten, a kitten with an exhaust leak behind the cat that is. I put the stock cat and downpipe back on since the headers came off, so it needs to get welded to the cat-back.
Anyway, I didn't take it for a drive because the garage was blocked with my sister's friend's car, so tomorrow I'll take it out. I also don't have insurance on it at the moment. Crossing my fingers that the trans doesn't have any problems. Since it came out of a car that wasn't driveable, there was no way of telling before I bought it, but for $600 for a engine and trans, it was worth the risk.

I was wondering what happened to both that car and dillcc. Hes one of the reasons I joined the club cause I was always seeing the pictures of his 97 40th and I had a 40th. Good to see your still around dillcc!
1997 SSE 40th Aniv. Dark Cherry Met., 35% tint all around, Chrome T-Stars, stock everything else
Yep it's still around, but it's back to stock again.
I drove it for the first time today, and everything seems good. It seems like it doesn't have as much power as it should though. It goes pretty good, maybe I'm just used to my 2000 with a few goodies so I was expecting a little more. I know it needs a case learn, which I'll do tomorrow, maybe that will help. The trans shifts nice, which is a relief. When I dropped the pan, I was a little concerned because the fluid was pretty dirty, but it drives just fine.
Now I can fix all the little stuff, and hopefully the new MN title will show up soon, then I'll be ready to list it for sale.
