Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

the woman's car

Post by gigolo »

so I have nothing but time to think and one request. Amanda has a 98 gs and now that it is paid off she wants some power equal to a rocker car but wants more low and midrange to make the mountain climbs and such easier. she liked the speed of the dp 3.5 gen v rocker car but wants a bit more.
here is where I get handed the reigns I have the old 3 in dp and the pems I did. I know it is always said stay away from the vs but I am thinking that doing a small cam like that and a 3.4 would net her a nice gain when all said and done when a little port work is done and a 99+ TB is added and the res delete and the 99+ muff setup. This would be done when the trans pukes like we all know it will
or option 2
port heads, lim, sc, tb and do pems and DP res delete and 99+ muff setup then stick a full size IC on it and pulley down. This poses a complication of what if the pump were to fail or the like and she not catch it and engine melt down.

both options would be give or take about 1k of parts so money is not the factor here. I also know headers would be a better option but she is not feeling the header idea ok the choppy cam lope of the s1x and bigger cams. after researching the cam that I have going in the 99 also seems to be close to the ideal cam for the person seeking good power with out the choppy idle and associated issues. the specs are 206/218 .320/.330 and the s1x has about the same lift so it will breathe really good and still maintain a tame persona and be fairly undetected especially with the lead foot she has lol

She would like option 1 better. Intercooling is a great mod, makes the air dense and less likely to create detonation; but with option 2 boost will stack making additional heat in the cylinders because the engine cannot breath.
