Think my Body Control Module is failing...
Ok, so I've had a bunch of goofy stuff happening lately, and I think I've traced it to the body control module.
Symptoms:
My Driver 1 memory button doesn't work. Got a new set of buttons from haro, and it still doesn't work. It changes my settings back when i use the key-fob, but if I hit the Driver 2 button it changes to the D2 settings, but pressing the D1 button again does nothing,
My radio sometimes stays on when I shut the car off, remove the key and open the door. I have to close the door, turn the key on, and then shut it off and open the door to turn the radio off. One time it took me 3 tries to get it to shut off.
My passenger mirror goes into park mode, even after shutting it off in the Personalization settings mode. Then it doesn't return to normal, I have to move it with the buttons. It also has no memory settings, even though that mirror still has the memory module or whatever. The driver's side is the one I replaced.
If anyone thinks it could be anything else, please let me know. I'm going to see if the scanner at work will test the module, I know it can read body codes, I'm just not sure if it can test modules like a Tech II can.

The body control system is actually made up of 3 seperate modules. The dash integration module, the instrument panel module, and the rear integration module.
Your problems appear to be spread over different systems, so perhaps its more of a ground problem? The memory seat module controls the seat positions, the passenger door module controls the operation of the passenger mirrors position, and the rear integration module handles the retained accessory power. Hopefully, the scanner will pin things down.

It could be a ground problem. This weekend I'll check the battery cables, but where are the other ground busses??

This may help.
6 & 16 are high up on each side of the car, just under the lower part of the dash. 7 & 15 are under the seats, and 8 is between the doors in the lower part of the B pillar.

So, we scanned it at work, and 3 codes came up U1016, U1040 and U1096. They all lead to the BCM and grounds on the tranny. So, this weekend I'm going to check all the grounds I can, and see what happens. Also, an un-related issue (maybe), where is the MAP sensor again? When my car does the surging at Idle, I'm going to see if unplugging the MAF and MAP sensors do anything for it.

Those codes show loss of class 2 serial data for 3 modules. 016 is PCM, 040 is the electronic brake control module, and 096 is the instrument panel cluster.
It's hard to get a good picture of the map sensor, but it's on the back of the engine, in the center by the rear bracket. It may be covered by the heater hoses. Follow the vacuum hose from the "T" under the supercharger snout that runs toward the rear of the engine compartment. That leads to the map sensor.

Thats how I'm starting to feel with my car.
No wonder GM went bankrupt....they cut too many corners.
My next car will probably not be american. You just cant be the reliability and quality of an acura or infinity.

You know, i was having some similar problems with my drivers side window control panel. I took the door panel off and replaced the big module thats under it thinking this was it, but it was just a waste of time. I ended up being the actual control panel that has the window buttons on it. Apparently this went bad and didnt allow me to raise or lower any windows, use my memory seat buttons, or lock and unlock the windows. Once I changed this out, it solved all the problems. You might want to start off with the simplest things first, just in case, before you dive into the heavier stuff.

Well, I checked and cleaned the underhood ground on the tranny, and the battery cables, and my memory 1 button worked about 4 times, then stopped, so I'm really at a loss as to what it could be. All my door functions (windows, mirror, and window lock) work, so I don't think it's that panel.

ed, check the grounds that are behind the kick panels on the driver and passenger sides, i left one a little loose and it caused me all kinds of headaches

And maybe we just got bad luck, but watching our lumina and chrysler van completely fall apart and require such a large amount of maintenance, we got rid of them at 130k.
And then looking at our toyota suv with 120k with no where near the same amount of problems or repairs, it's a no brainer.
I'm not naive enough to think that America makes the best products in everything, and spending $25k+ on something, I want the best product.
Comparing my dad's acura to my bonneville is laughable. The bonneville retailed for more than his car, and his car performs better, has better fit and finish, and has less problems.
But I digress, Lets get back on topic about Ed's BCM. If you want to continue talking about that, send me a PM.

Um, not really. Most of it seems to have solved itself, but I think there's a loose wire somewhere in the door wiring or something, as I'm still having goofy intermittent issues with it. Haven't really worried about it since this post, though...
