Hey, it's been quite a while since I've posted. Been lurking here and there when time permits. Finally got around to the yearly polish. I got myself a cheap Chicago Rotary, which is soooo much quicker than that orbital. Still have to finish cleaning inside, so no pics there. I topped off the polishing with a coat of Danase Wet Glaze and a coat of Clearkote Carnuba Moose Wax.

How do you like the Chicago rotary, any complaints?

I didn't get my hopes up seeing some of the comments on Autopia, but I'm not going to be using more than a couple times a year on my cars so I figured it was worth a shot. It does stink a bit like the motor is burning up, but it worked fine so far. This was the first real workout with it. I used it for about an hour yesterday, and then a couple hours maybe today. It definitely is not the best machine as I can hear the motor slowing down and speeding up. So it's probably not a good choice for consistent results if you are doing heavy correction and/or using it for doing quite a few cars. But for the light polish it worked great. This was my first real go with a rotary other than using it on the hood when I first got it in the fall. It went very easy, nothing scary about it. Of course it was just a light polish on a white pad, but very manageable. I think it makes for a pretty good first unit to get your feet wet if you aren't certain about a rotary.

Actually, truth be told I'm not happy with it. It does have a splendid shine, but that day it was overcast and I didn't feel like breaking out the halogen light and really inspecting it. A couple days later we had good sun and I could see I only half touched the swirls. I think an orange pad was needed. Oh well, it looks much better than it did after the winter.
