WCBF09 July 19 - 26 - Corvallis Oregon
Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26 - Corvallis Oregon
Yeah, but maybe not everyone will be at the KOA all at the same time? But that would be a good idea maybe for Thursday night after the coast cruise, or Friday morning before heading to Woodburn.

Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26 - Corvallis Oregon
Hey, I also have a question about the dinner following Saturday racing. In years past the Pontiac Bonneville Club has joined with the GP club for a dinner together. Except last year I know that some people where trying to get out of there earlier to have time for the awards at the KOA that evening so the Inter-club dinner was put off and Pontiac Bonneville Club did their thing and GPs did theirs. Anyone know what the plans are this year? Paul? I see it says pizza to go. Does that mean no multi club dinner this year. I know the Portland club just wanted to know what was happening so they can plan accordingly as well.

It's actually quite comfortable isn't it. I stopped for a 4 hour nap on my way down to Corvallis in March and was amazed at the room when the seat is fully reclined.

Again, not all of us might be there. Or maybe just me. I'm not driving all the way back down to Corvally after T&T Friday to turn around and get there early the next morning again. Call me cheap and lazy I guess. Just don't want to do it. I'll be there on Thursday night though after the cruise to the coast.Bugsi wrote:I really like this plan. That's a good point, and this is the type of feedback we need. The nice thing about planning this ahead of time is that nothing is carved in stone, we have time to come up with a plan that works best for everyone.SuperSLE wrote:Again, not all of us might be there. (etc)
I will work on a layout for arranging the cars that we know will be attending, and we'll leave some room to make modifications as needed.
Someone said we'll need some radio-equipped people to coordinate arranging the cars. That's a great idea. We'll do that. Everyone should be aware that we make generous use of GMRS radios at WCBF. (Anyone remember our traditional channel?)
I think a bullhorn would help too, but I don't have one!

Re: WCBF09 July 19 - 26 - Corvallis Oregon
I think a group panorama will work big-time. Just Google-Image-Searching for car panoramas, I haven't found anything remarkable, but just to give a very basic idea, there is this photo: http://www.jimbacus.net/blog/2004/images/panorama.jpg which isn't even intentionally posed as a group photo. If you imagine the cars arranged in a field in a large arc starting at the left, arcing away to the middle, and arcing back around to the right side, I think you can fit a huge number of vehicles in the photo. With an arc, the cars will all be similar distances from the camera, minimizing distortion, especially when mapped to Photoshop's cylindrical mapping, which would eliminate the stretched distortion that you see in the center of the sample image above.
I think this will be really good.

Lets see. I dug up the photos from WCBF07:

Not as many cars, so wasn't such an issue. And the list above isn't all bonnevilles either. It also includes a lot of the Idaho Club guys that are bringing the GTPs among other things, so the Bonnie only pic might be easier, its the big group photo that is the issue.

By the way I made my reservations at the KOA. We are staying in the Kamping Kabins. Too much of a pain for a tent with the chitlins. We will be there Tuesday night, then the fam is going on an extended coast cruise until Thursday when we will meet up with the coast cruisers in Newport and return back to the KOA for Thursday night.

And if my guess is right, those `07 photos are single photographs, there's no panorama stitching going on. If we do a wide arc and panorama stitching, I think it will be no problem to fit everyone in. We could do two rows of cars if we needed to, maybe for the combined groups photo if needed.

Nope, not panorama. We could get a lot closer in if it is panorama and stitched together. The 07 is a nice shot, but so far away.

While it was great in the past to share dinner with the GP club and partake in their awards, there was little time left afterwards before it gets too dark to get back to the KOA and do ours.Hey, I also have a question about the dinner following Saturday racing. My vote is to repeat last year and pre-order at least 10 pizza's.
We will be doing lunch with the GP group at the track...............or maybe having them for lunch.
I far prefer the 07 group shot arrangement over 08's.

Here is a panorama I did last year.

Okay my take on this. Instead of doing a pano take about 8 photos sequentially in a horizontal fashion so put me in a car drive a few feet stop take a picture drive a few more feet stop take a picture and so on. I can also do a pano before or after.

Yes, we should do both. If you still have the Photoshop files, can you try one of the other mappings and see if it straightens out the image?GXP_vince wrote: Instead of doing a pano take about 8 photos sequentially in a horizontal fashion so put me in a car drive a few feet stop take a picture drive a few more feet stop take a picture and so on.
