Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
Bought the 89 because I moved to Oregon and needed something cheap but good until the wife and kids joined me. I knew I wanted a 3800 myself due to the previous car I had in Ohio. Bought a 91 Buick Regal GS for $100 with 185k on it. Sold it for $500 with 210k on it. The lady still drives it and has it up to 245k.
Bought the 95 because the wife wanted a car and said she wanted one like her dads. His was a 99 .
Bought the 2000 because the oldest daughter joined us to go to college out here and the wife did not want to share any more. That is the way I explain it, but really I have been wanting an SSEi since Bill Wren introduced me to the supercharged ones.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
I bought mine because I wanted one since they came out. Just couldn't afford that $40,000 price tag. luckily after a wreck and learned about how good those 4.6 engines were, I had to have one. That Lincoln I sold for my Bonne had 143,000k on it. And it still road like a champ! other than the air ride.
But I seen the GXP I bought for $17,000 with 35,000 miles on it!
And been loving it ever since!

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
My wife was working at a dealership here in town at the time...They had my silver SSEi and a 4.0 Aurora on the lot I was interested in...they were basically the same price after her discount...I had a Gran Prix GTP to trade in (black on black)...I drove them both and both were great cars...what it came down to was the fact that the Bonnie had a drak leather interior and the Aurora was saddle leather...my job is not the cleanest every day so I went with the darker color...I must say I was disappointed with the dealerships abilities to deal with issues under warranty...surging, idling funny when warm, moon roof issues....they were clueless...then about 80K overdrive went out...I only had 75K of warranty...they were three times as much to repair it as I found others to be...eventually I R&R'd the trans myself and had it rebuilt...overall the car has been a great car...I am not a trade em in guy...I usully drive cars til they are used up

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
i bought my bonne because i needed something with better fuel mileage than my pickup. my brother owns a grand prix so i wanted something like it, but also not like it (if that makes sense) because i'm 6'6" and i wanted a car with decent leg room. i also really wanted a car with the 3800 because i knew those are good motors that have been around for a long time and there is a ton of aftermarket goodies for them too.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
Same here, i'm 6' 5.5" and i needed a car to replace my tahoe and still have good legroom, and grand prix's are EVERYWHERE around here, but there are fewer bonne's, although that is starting to change, and there is only one other SSEi at my school, and his is way different, he has crappy logos all over it.wingman wrote:i bought my bonne because i needed something with better fuel mileage than my pickup. my brother owns a grand prix so i wanted something like it, but also not like it (if that makes sense) because i'm 6'6" and i wanted a car with decent leg room. i also really wanted a car with the 3800 because i knew those are good motors that have been around for a long time and there is a ton of aftermarket goodies for them too.

Got the 02 because the 92 that I had was ready for retirement. Miss the Garnet red though.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
Bought the first one cuz wife wanted a sedan ... kid on the way. Saw a beauty of a grey 90 SE, looked great , drove great, had 4 doors, and enough features to appease the wife. See she went from a stripper Dodge Omni manual, to an '85 Eldorado with everything. The Bonne had better performance and handling, but not all the creature comforts of the caddy. Convinced her it was the right car, had it for 8 years! When bought next bonne (97 SE), the guy I bought it from actually bought the '90 from me!

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
I just happened upon my first bonneville. I was driving a 89 Dihatsu when the engine decided to blow at a red light. A cop came along and helped me push it to a parking lot where a 94 sse was for sale. I started looking at it while i waited on my dad to come. Fully loaded, leather seats, v-6, power everything and was in great shape (i lived in Georgia at the time so it didn't have any rust). I fell in love, only 100,000 miles and they wanted only $2,000. Within 2 weeks it was mine. After a week of owning the Pcm crashed but other then that it was a very reliable car until 180,000 when i was rear ended hard by an uninsured motorist (about 6,000 in damage, it mangled the subframe) At the same time the I lost a cylinder at idle. I soon bought my 99Sle because i loved the 94 so much.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
In my case, work moved my location and overnight my commute distance doubled. The 86 GN was not getting the gas mileage I could live with and something more economical was needed. I was searching for a 95 or newer Riv with supercharger. No normally aspirated engine would work for me (personal preference). I looked at several Rivs and none were cared for worth a crap. I was pointed at the Bonneville in the paper advertised for $10,488. I called the dealer and they told me $8,900 over the phone. I went to look and found I was misquoted the price over the phone. Not a nice thing to do.
It was a bit smallish for me (I'm used to 2 door cars, a 4 door sedan is just cramped to me), but it seemed in good shape. I put a refundable deposit on the car on several conditions...1, my mechanic says it's a good car, inspected at the shop of my preference, and 2 I get the phone quoted price. I even made the salesman take the car to my shop for me while I was at work. It checked out OK and the deal was completed. And that's how I got to where I am today.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
I had been driving my grand prix for almost 6 years and wanted to step up from the 3100 to the 3800 but had gotten bored with the looks of the mid '00 GPs and hated the new ones. I saw the bonneville and though that it could work nicely. I am 6'7" tall so I like big cars. I almost bought a '00 SSEi in vegas for $9000 with 50k on the clock but when I test drove it I smelled coolant burning and decided not to. I ended up buying this one a week later for the same price. Sad thing is my old 3100 was far faster off the line than this beast but the Bonnie is much faster on the freeway

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
I bought my current car because, after owning a '93 SSEi, knew I wanted the new body style. A member, Tamara, wanted (*edit* needed, she didn't "want" to hehe) to sell her car, and I bought it.
I went on eBay looking specifically for an SSEi, because my best friend owned a GTP at the time. After riding in his car, I knew I wanted supercharged, but I just liked the luxury the Bonneville offered over the GP. I was attempting a classic rebuild of a '71 Ford Torino with a 351 Cleveland at the time, but couldn't afford it. So, I actually traded it to this guy for partial payment on the '93. Worked out great that he happened to be looking for an old muscle car.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
my first bonnie was a 90 LE handed down to me by my grandmother, in prestine condition which I kept it in, after 125000 miles i traded for my 94SSE. THen i wanted S/C and couldnt find the SSEi i wanted in my range so i got the GTP, then got the SSEi after killing the GTP, now have the 04 GT. I do have a passion for the bonnevilles.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
Honestly, first one was because it was $100...who can turn down a running car for $100?
Then I found BC....that made me want a real one. 5 bonnies later(89,93,94,98,00) I have my 01.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
I had a jeep cherokee and it got stolen. And i needed another car but i wanted a Pontiac because my friend had a 96 grand prix, and my other friends mom has a 01 grand am gt and both cars were awesome. Plus I like the way the dash lights up all red. I searched auto trader on the computer for Pontiacs under $2000. I found a 97 SSE at an auto auction place. I went there and checked it out and it ran good and didn't have any issues. I bought it 2 hours later.

Re: why did you buy your bonneville?
Well I was shopping for a 00-03 Grand Prix GTP and all the ones they had were high mileaged and way over priced. The guy came to me and said "we have this nice Bonneville here, I think you should take it for a spin". I really didn't want to but said ah...f-it. Got in, drove it, came back and signed the papers.
