intense pcm question?
If I wanted to purchase an INTENSE PCM for an L36; what should I have them set my TIMING TABLE to? (on the web site they have options to chose from and I dont know what is safe and where I can benefit from.) I plan on installing ZZP ER rockers in the near future and an exhaust but thats proably as far as I will go!

Re: intense pcm question?
If you want raised timing, you're going to have to run premium. I like my Intense PCM, but I'm getting a custom tune done this weekend, because the Intense PCM is one-size-fits-all, and every car is different. I'd see if there are any local tuners. No offense to Intense, but they just can't custom tune from 1800 miles away.

Re: intense pcm question?
if you're talking about adding degrees of timing, don't. not without the ability to scan for KR.

Re: intense pcm question?
thanks i knew that kr was bad so i wasnt sure if i should screw with it all! on the website it says "ideal for naturally aspirated vehicles with any premium fuel" BY 1 DEGREE UP TO 3 DEGREES! Whats with that?

Re: intense pcm question?
It just advances the timing by a certain number. IF you're not sure about what timing advances do, you should research it. You might be fine with your mods adding a degree or two, but if you're getting KR as a result you will loose the performance you would have gained as well as risking engine damage. You most likely won't even know if this is happening. If you can scan for KR, you still won't be able to change it without shipping your PCM back.
If you can, find a local tuner to advance it as far as possible without adding KR.

Re: intense pcm question?
cool; so how would I benfit from a PCM with out advancing timing?

Would allow for lower fan-turn-on temps to compliment a 180* Thermostat, removed top-speed limiter, and a bunch of other stuff. I'd find a local tuner to do it, going to be cheaper and easier in the long run.

Re: intense pcm question?
wow ed way to sneak in there without me noticing!
you will still have increased transmission line pressure on shifts, 180* fan on, 3-1 downshift, increased shift points (not really a benefit until you add rockers or cam though), it gets rid of some of the abuse mode/torque management settings (pulling timing at shifts, etc)
ED! again!
