Dad's new project - 1969 Charger

Post by harofreak00 »

My dad used to have a 1969 Charger R/T clone back before I was born. It was his baby. He proposed to my mom in it. He had to sell it to get married. It was mint condition and was sold for $3300. Since my mom passed away 3 months ago, he decided it was time for a new project, hopefully to keep his mind off things. He saw this car on ebay and him and myself drove down to Jackson, Missouri over the weekend to look at it/pick it up.

This one is also an R/T clone, but not nearly as nice as shape as his last one. It needs an entire restoration, but for right now it does run and drive. Immediate plans are to fix the brakes and power steering.

We took my new truck down there to pick it up. It performed flawlessly. Got 12.5mpg on the way down, 10.5 on the way back.

That sounds absolutely wicked... 14k is chump change. I've seen those R/T replicas go for around 25-35k on barrett jackson before.

He must have grown up in the seventies like me. Cragars were the first mod to your rod back then.

That charger is full of lots of WIN. I would honestly drive it around for a year or two, throw some stuff at it like an exhaust, and then start building up a motor/gathering parts for a big rebuild. But it's cool to see he's trying to keep busy.

Nice car. The 69 Charger was my favourite Dodge. I remember looking at the 69 Charger sitting in the show room when I was 15 wishing I had my license.

It was a dog in the handling department though. All the Pontiacs used to beat up on them. :P
