Ding Ding Ding..

Post by m1030w6 »

I have a problem with my chimes, every time I hit the gas from a stand still the chimes in ding ding ding in till about 30mph, and even worse when turning.. at 1st i thought it was a loose wire in the steering wheel since when it started to do it yesterday it only did it when turning but now it is every time I hit the gas from a stop sign or light... what could this be? it is really annoying! :dontknow:

Thanks in advance.

I would check the ground busses under the drivers side carpet near the door. They can cause weird issues. No CEL when this happens? no flashing lights?

Is the chime:
a) fast-pulsed chime (headlight related issue)
b) medium pulsed chime (ignition switch issue)
c) slow pulsed chime (seat belt issue)

Is your parking break released all the way? If not, you should have the "BREAK" dash light on, but it could be burnt out.

That's all I can think of right now.

It is a fast paced ding ding ding but my headlights work.... but you might be on to something tho.. I did install HID's and since they only hook up to one of the plugs I'm thinking now that the one that's not plug in could be corroded and causing this to happen? you think thats a possibility?

I'm thinking it's sensing that the other one isn't plugged in.

went out and looked its not corroded at all...

also I've had the HID's installed for about 2 years now and never had a problem with them... I don't see why it would start sensing the other isn't plugged in and since I dont have a the feature that tells me when I have a burned out light somewhere i shouldn't have a problem... unless my thinking is all wrong here?

all I know is its driving me CRAZY! lol..

thanks for the advance.. any other suggestions?

is there a fuse I could pull to make it stop dinging? also where is the dinger thing located at?

Yea, it's probably not because of your HID headlights. I'll look into this some more tonight when I get home from work.

Did you check your e-brake though?

yea I checked the e-brake it didnt change eveyrthing...

tonight while drive home it has gotten worse now, with the ding ding ding all the light will flicker on and off like crazy and it does this randomly, and the battery gague will go all the down to the red.

I have a newer battery only a few months old, and I have checked the battery cables for corrosion.

Driving home threw town where most of the police sit at night with headlights that randomly flicker whenever they decide to is not a good thing on my part..

Looks like the car is being parked in till I figure this problem out.

thanks for the help.. is there any other suggestions to this problem?

Sounds like an alternator going out to me. Take it to a parts store and have it tested.

Well, if it's going out, it would cause the low voltage you're seeing.

I just added the upgrade wiring harness kit and it is flashing the headlamp out light at me and dinging because the kit only uses the right headlamp kit. My next plan of action is to figure out the resistance of a 9006 bulb and put a resistor in.
I'm hoping that will silence the annoying dinger (if the light sensor doesn't detect enough light it tells the BCM to turn the lights on automatically and at night it will flash the light out warning and ding about every 20-30 seconds).

okay Ill have tested.. should I remove alternator before taking it in? I never had an alternator tested before..

olblueeyees- I don't have a headlight monitor on my car since I have a SE. and I've had the HIDs in for at least 2 years now so I'm not sure that would be it.. I could try plugging in the old headlights to test it..

thanks

Ding ding ding.

Thanks for helping me maybe solve my intermittent dinging. I clued into the possibility that the daytime running lights that I bypassed is probably being detected as a burned out light by the PCM. Heh,heh, these cars really are smart if that's the case.

I'll try reversing it and see if the dinging goes away.
