That's the reason I got it. I saw one when I was 16 that wasn't in too good of shape. I've been looking for another coupe since and this was the first one I found. Paid $3250 for it from the son of the original owner. Haven't done a thing with it since. Still has 78K original miles.

Gosh I just LOVE the older cars. I saw a blue one today on my way home from work. NICE~!

Right now my plans are to pay it off. Then I'm torn between restoring it, or beefing it up. I think I may just restore it for now. Less of a headache, and cheaper in theory. I would like to get a 4 speed transmission. The 3 speed is a little lacking at higher rpms. I may stroke the engine a little too. Maybe rotating assembly from a 300ci. Possible cam it. It isn't everyday that you see a hopped up inline six!

I read somewhere that someone used a Chrysler 2.2 TBI setup to replace the carb, and used a MegaSquirt PCM to control it. (This was on a 6 banger BTW). I forgot who, on what, or even why...but I did read it somewhere.
I do recommend doing ANYTHING you can to take away parasitic drag...electric cooling fan would help get back probably about 5 horsepower easily.
2005 GXP - White Gold Pearl, no mods...yet.
2000 SSEi - Resurrection in progress. Built L67 w/L32 fuel rail, ported heads, and cam. Camaro front brake system, GXP cluster, and much more in planning.

I believe Hot Rod Mag did something to a Maverick with the I6, with EFi and stuff. Don't really remember.
Bye Bye: RIP sandrock

Okay, I get the plate thing now. I thought you were bagging on the fact that it was a collector plate. I'm not fond of the color either, but hey, I only have to register the tags once. They never expire
I do want to keep the car carbed. Keep it true to the era and all. I might try to fit a 2 barrel on it though. My friend has one off of an '83. I may just need to fabricate an adapter plate if it won't bolt right up to the manifold.
On a side note, I love how the exhaust sounds. You can ask Toddster about that. It really doesn't sound like a six at all. I'll have to get some audio/video of that one of these days.

Ah, the BIG bodied stang! Def dont see many of those around. You should join up here.... http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/ Im a member (SLCK64) and they would be more than happy to help you with any questions you have, although Im sure they will tell you to put 2 more cylinders in that thing, lol But I def like the idea of soupin' up the 6! Its actually probably the engine thats lacking your top end, not ur trans, its a 1:1 3rd gear ratio.
Not sure on the dif. I haven't really dug into it that much yet. I only got to drive it a couple of months after I bought it before I had to store it for winter.
And I'm not complaining about power loss with the tranny. I don't have a tach, so I'm not exactly sure, but when I'm cruising at 60-65, it sounds like it's sitting at around 3500-4000 RPM. I would get better gas mileage with a 4 speed.

You wont get better gas milage with a 4spd, it too has a 1:1 ratio in 4th. Ford did make a goofy 4spd trans in the 70s that had a 3rd gear 1:1 and then a 4 gear overdrive, but they dont like to stand up to horsepower too well and I think they are kinda hard to find. I think your best bet is to swap to a T5, a lil for fabbing but all around performance and MPGs would increase. Id def try to get a tach and see what your cruising RPMs are. Have you tried to decode the door tag/VIN/RPO Codes? Or look for a tag that might be on the pumpkin? That will tell you what ratio your axle is.
