boost guage really low

Post by kaotikd »

I have a 2000 ssei and i replaced engine with used one, it seems to run fine but i noticed that the boost guage needle isn't in the middle at zero it is just above the -10. With the other engine it was in the middle, it seems to be working fine it goes up when i give it gas. I've replaced all the gaskets on this engine. So i don't believe it is vaccum leaks. I was wondering what controls the boost guage.

at idle? At idle it should be at the -10 mark, and go up from there. The boost bypass valve allows air to bypass the supercharger under light load and at idle to improve fuel efficiency.

Think of the boost gauge as a throttle % guage. The harder you push, the higher it goes. -10ish would be no throttle. 0 would be 50%, and so on.
