Tires?

Post by 00Beast »

What is a good all season tire that will be good in wet and dry and snow in the winter? I will drive our truck if the snow is really bad, but just slush and snow? I need to replace the tires before the end of summer, the rears are almost bare, a friend of my dad's said the Goodyear Eagle F1's that were on it were the best, what do you guys think?

You're about to get 472 suggestions. I suggest going to www.tirerack.com and reading reviews.

I personally love the Kumho Ecsta tires on the SLE for all seasons, but leaning a lit bit to the summer traction side. They never let me down over the winter. Not even on black ice.

Moving to General Chat.

We had a set of Eagles on my Eagle *lol* and they were awesome, but I've heard mixed reviews on them. I personally am not satisfied with my Integrities. I'm a Michelin fan. Great handling, extremely quiet, and rode like a dream.

I bought my 99 SLE with Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, and they seem to be really good as compared to the various brands I've run on the 94 SSEi. I get some road noise, though, and I think there are other tires just as good, like most Bridgestones, that are just as grippy but with less noise.

99 SLE - Tuned with different parts and such

I've owned 2 sets of their TPT's, and they were great tires, especially if you have them siped. myfirstbonnie also has a set on his 2k.

I currently have their T1R's. on the Zilla in 245's.
(farthest thing from all-seasons you can get though)

You have to have them siped, they don't come with it? Speaking of sizes, what is the biggest size that will fit on the stock 17's and still clear? 255/45? bigger? smaller?

Molded in siping is common to all tires, and is nothing more than standard TREAD.

All tires designed for street use benefit greatly from CUT SIPING after you buy the tires.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=tire+s ... s&ei=UTF-8

Tires run cooler, longer tread life, greater traction when wet, snowy, or icy.

That's up to you. I have no idea where you live or what shops have siping. You need to call around.

I just recently bought tires. I was using the Eagle RS*A's but due to limited funds i went with the Eagle LS and have no complaints. Someone on here had mentioned the Cooper CS4's and when i asked the tire guy about them he said they're not a bad tire but not long on the mileage

I have had B.F. Goodrich Traction TA's H rated a few months now and really like them. Like you say the test will be in the winter. They look good too. They are directional tread.

Used to have Goodyear Eagle RSA's and they were okay.

I currently have Goodyear Eagle GT-HR's. They're pretty good. Nothing stupendous. They were really highly rated on tirerack when I got them. They aren't the best in slushy snow.
