I believe this is a necessary reliability item. Low OP killed the 94 engine last year.

I have had it on my 00 for a few years now and last year installed one on the 94 with no issues.
Now I have 80 psi OP in all my Pontiacs.

5W30 was recommended when I bought my kit from ZZP instead of the stock 10W30

OK, so someone please explain something to me. Looking at the comments about having 80 psi and looking carefully at the oil gauge in the picture below, please tell me what the exact reading on that gauge is.

Mind you, I am not picking at the accuracy of the statement. I am more questioning how this gauge reads. Note that is cannot be a linear measurement gauge, since the difference between the first three major hash marks, 0-40, is 40 psi. The difference between the next three hash marks, 40-120, is 80 psi. So how exactly does one read this gauge??? :ack: :bhuh: ??

Do you assume the the first two major lines are 20 psi each and then the next two major lines are 40 psi each??? Yet they look visually to be exactly the same distances apart?

To take this further, if the distance between two major marks on the left of 40 psi is 20 psi, then each small mark is 3.33 psi. The equivelant distance on the right side of 40 psi is then 6.66 psi? Weird huh?

It's stuff like this that makes me want digital. ....When Analog Goes Wild, the eight video in a series... :P :ack: :bluetwitch:

BTW, it is not my intent to drag my own thread into a hijack situation, I just think it's pertinent to understanding what we are talking about.

:laughing3:

You think you got problems reading your gauge. My marks are 275 kPa (40) and 830 kPa (120).

Yes the mid way mark would be interpreted at 80 psi or 550 kilopascals.

Both the 94 and 00 are one tic over the midway mark, interpreted to match the advertised 85 psi.

This is why I use my aeroforce for accurate oil pressure.

one quick question i have is whats the difference if any between intense's and zzp's i noticed intense has the washer plunger spring and gasket but zzp does not have the washer?

does the washer account for a lil more pressure or do both units pump out the same pressure?

ZZP does not need the washer because the rating is built into the new spring.

Both of my conversions have been using the ZZP kit for this reason.

For the record, the spring in the INTENSE kit does nothing to detract from function or quality. Just a different way of doing it that suited the goal they were after.

Intense has a stronger spring ALSO. The washer preloads it a bit.
