Re: Transmission issues
I pulled the vac module out. The end slides back and forth. Is this normal? I would think it should be stiff with no play. What do you think?

Re: Transmission issues
Thanks for the response. The fluid level was in the "safe" zone on the stick. Thanks for the tip on the vac module. I'll check that right now. I've already dropped the pan, fluid was dirty but smelled okay. No parts in the pan, that's a plus!!

Transmission issues
Got the Buick straightened out on the engine problems, thanks for your input it really helped. Now onto the new problem. The transmission hesitates going into drive. Once it is moving it shifts okay, but if I stop the trans. acts like it is in neutral. Then it will "slam" into 1st and away we go ...

Re: Unreadable codes
Engine "clunk" seems to come from the trans. end of the engine, toward the firewall. I've unplugged every sensor I can see to see if I could locate the problem. So far no luck. I don't think it is in the engine bottom end. It doesn't do it all the time, just occasionally. But when it does it really ...

Buick prblems
As posted earlier, the Buick had a knock sensor code. The engine has a VERY loud "clunk" at idle. I'm thinking it may be the torque convertor clutch engaging and disengaging. I've replaced the knock sensor, cleared the codes, but as soon as I restart the car the ECM set a PO325 knock sensor circuit ...

Re: Unreadable codes
Scanner calls for the "k-9" key chip for that vehicle. As a side note, I pulled the ecm from the Pontiac and plugged it into tbe Buick. Viola!! I can now read the codes. Po325 Knock sensor circoit. I'm thinking the ecm is bad in the Buick.

Re: Unreadable codes
I'm using a snap-on scanner with the "K-9" chip. Scanner worked fine on my 95 Bonneville just not on the Buick.

Unreadable codes
I have a 1995 Buick Le Sabre,(basically a bonneville with Buick nameplates), 3.8 ltr. Car was running then just shut down, no spark. Changed the crank sensor, started back up and ran fine. This was a month ago, yesterday same thing happened, plugged in my code scanner with the proper chip. Scanner ...

Re: remote fob
I just tried to set the remote with your instructions, but nothing happened. Do you have an illustration of this procedure? Pin 4 has a connector while Pin 8 does not seem to have one

sorry for the delay in responding, Yes it was the dreaded red anti freeze. Drain entire system, flushed it out, seems to be fine now. Thanks for your input.

remote fob
I recently got a different fob for my wife's 95 bonneville SE. I can't find anything here on how to program the new fob. Any help would be appreciated. I thought I saw it here earlier, but now I can't seem to find it.

Re: Oil in radiator
Thanks. The trans fluid looks fine, nice and pink, no discoloration at all. The engine oil looks O K too. I'll try the trans cooler lines first.Right now I'm in the middle of doing a compression check.

Oil in radiator
1993 bonneville 3.8, losing coolant. No visable exterior leaks, however radiator has a lot of sludge in it. Oil dipstick shows clean oil. I'm thinking possibly a head gasket problem. Any other thoughts?

Re: Dash lights
Turned out the wiring harness apparently not making good contact. I took it apart and plugged it back in, and they are working. The plug looks like it might have been hot at one time or another, but seems to be working for now.

Re: A/C blowing thru defroster
It wasn't as bad as I thought, the vacuum hose from the intake manifold has rotted off at the black box on the firewall. I not only fixed the A/C problem, it also "fixed" the check engine light coming on!

A/C blowing thru defroster
My wife's 95 SE is blowing the a/c thru the defroster not the dash vents. Are these controlled by vacuum or electric?
