The last couple weeks my car has randomly started to stumble/cut out. It doesn't die and it happens so quick that the tach doesn't even move. It ususally happens under light acceleration, but last night it started to do it while parked at a light.
No codes were set. It is really weird, the best way ...

Oil Pressure Switch Replacement
I've already done this once, but I can't remember if I need to drain the oil prior to switching it? TIA

Re: The "shimmy"
dmleonard,
Do you have the chrome "swoopies" or the Good Year RSA's? Can't tell your year and trim from your sig. I ask because I have been hunting down this issue for more than 60K too and that's what I have been running.
I swore for years it coundn't be the tires or a bad wheel balancing as I ...

The "shimmy"
I've been battling the 65-75 shimmy for the last 60k without success. I've scoured this forum as well as many others and can't seem to get rid of it. I'm about out of ideas, so I figured I'd post here to see if there is something I overlooked.

P1404 EGR Code
I've been getting the 1404 code for about 6 months. At first I took the EGR Valve off. It didn't look too gummed up and the pintle moved freely. I followed the instructions from a post and cleaned everything up, checked the tube to the exhaust manifold and checked/cleaned the electrical connections ...

Re: Weird happenings at idle.
I had the same thing happen to me on a Monte Carlo I used to own. It was the intake gaskets and they were causing a vacuum leak. It would surge until it warmed up a bit. Once the engine heated up a bit, everything would expand enough where the vacuum leak was lessened and the computer could ...

Oil pan gasket replacement
Has anyone replaced their oil pan gasket? I'd like to get some tips on how to do it if someone has already done it, such as the best way to get it out, etc. Mine is leaking to the point where I need a quart every 3k, plus I'm sick of seeing the mess.
TIA for any advice.

Re: 65-72 mph shimmy solved!
The only thing I replaced was the sway bar links and bushings. As I said, I was able to make it better or worse with different tires, re-balancing, etc., so it is likely a combination of things. But for whatever reason, this solved it. I didn't do anything else - still haven't decided if I want to ...

Re: 65-72 mph shimmy solved!
I have a bad strut bearing, so I got a quote for shocks and struts. Needless to say, it was a little spendy, so I priced out the parts from rockauto. I pulled a wheel off to take a look and see if I thought I could do the job myself if I rented a strut tool. There was nothing in particular that ...

Re: 65-72 mph shimmy solved!
Yes, I would think a novice could do it - it's pretty simple actually. I just picked one up at NAPA as I have a store a few blocks from my house. I wasn't planning on doing it, just noticed it was looking pretty ratty and figured it would be cheap to replace. Good luck with it.

65-72 mph shimmy solved!
I know there are a ton of threads on this and everyone seems to have differing results, but I finally solved mine and thought I would share it.

Re: missing coolant
There is a trans cooler located inside the radiator. Odds are that you have a leak and are mixing your coolant and trans fluid. I had the same thing happen to me and replaced the radiator.

Sorry if this is a repost, but it took me a while to figure out what was going on and find the new site. Anyway, my cousin owns a tires plus and I was complaining to him that I had to do the intake gaskets again and he told me about a class action lawsuit against GM where you can get money back. I ...
