Re: Do I need a new Catalytic converter .....P0420

Haro thank you for the info. (I am assuming you are referring to scrapping the old one for the metal that is inside... thats what makes the old one worth $100).

Do you know if this is a common fix for the p0420 code? (i already replaced the rear o2 sensor)

Re: Do I need a new Catalytic converter .....P0420

Thank you for your quick response.

Re: Random stalling with hard restart.

I wanted to give you guys an update on the car. I decided to just have the shop do it when i was getting it inspected. It was installed on Monday and so far so good. It seems that the crank shaft position sensor may of been the culprit.

Thank you all for your help. I hope this may help others in ...

Re: Random stalling with hard restart.

Update. Ok so since my first post I have checked the fuel pressure it seems fine. (I took it to a mechanic since I dont have a fuel pressure gauge and the car was running fine so I figured those were the results i would get.) I can hear the fuel pump working when the car is trying to start after a ...

My 2000 SSei randomly stalls on me and sometimes won't restart for 5-10 mins. I am trying to see if there is any patterns but like yesterday it dies in traffic would not restart. A week ago it would not start after it sat all ...

Interior hood release---broken

My hod release inside my 2000 ssei broke the other day. So I went to remove it thinking it would be an easy fix
1. remove 2 screws
2. squeeze the 2 plastic tabs to get the mechanism to release from the steel body
3. then I unhooked the end of the cable from the lever.

So when I go to pull the ...

Re: Tensioner?

try taking off the belt and turn the tensioner pulley and any other pulleys that you can move by hand and see if you feel if they are hard to turn. They should turn very freely. If you have any noticeable resistance, it may be the bearing in the pulley starting to go. I have had to replace several ...

Re: Help! The inside of my car stinks....sometimes

Sounds like it is either the cabin filter or the sunroof water issue that everyone seems to experience. My cabin filter always seemed to stink so I just removed and never but one back in. I also had the water issue from the sunroof drain hose. It cause a lot of water to sit on the back floor and the ...

Re: knock with throttle

Well I definitely hope this fixes your problem, it fixed mine. As for getting it off it can be tricky, no real special tools are needed. The hardest part about it is getting the rubber bushings to slide off the old rusted bolt. I just take a pair of vise grips and clamp the rubber bushing and use a ...

Re: knock with throttle

Same thing happened to me and i thought it was something major. Turned out it was a Sway bar link. It would make a terrible bang noise when ever I would first start pulling out of the driveway in the morning but then nothing else until maybe I put the car in reverse or made a sharp turn slowly which ...

Re: Climat Control Issue. What to replace

My actuator just recently went, that controlled the air flow. Mine was stuck on the floor. It is located on the driver side. You will find 2 of them under there one for air flow and one for temperature adjustment. It is the first one you will see. Easiest way to tell which one it is, is by turning ...

Re: Horrible, constant squealing noise

I would take a look at the dust shield that is behind the rotor on each tire sounds like that could be bent and rubbing against the rotor. I would jack up each tire and spin the tires in the air to see if you can hear which one is squealing.

Re: A/C Question

Exactly what andrew said you need a vacuum pump to suck all the air out of the system.

Image taking an empty pop bottle and you tried to blow air into it, you would have a heck of a time getting extra air (or in this case AC refrigerant) into the bottle. But if you sucked all the air out of the ...

Re: Gauge cluster issues(?)

You will have to solder them in. If your not very good at it I would recommend taking the dash to maybe an electronics repair shop such as (tv/vcr repair) if there is any left. Maybe even a computer repair, just somebody who is good with electronic soldering. Where are you located? Some members may ...
