Re: I need some new equipment
I don't think I would go HF again. I tried a HF rotary and it lasted about three uses.

The Enclave/Acadia has 100 more HP and 60 more lb-ft of torque than that Torrent. but they are about 1000 lbs heavier.

Soon Farewell to the Bonneville
It's been a while since I've been on here. This has been a great site with good members and information. I've really enjoyed my time with the B. Other than the intake leaks I can't complain about the car. With 173K miles she still runs strong. I still enjoy the looks of the car, and have actually ...

Re: What engine oil do you use?
I've done six month (8K mile) oil changes in mine for at least the last six years of the 8 that I've owned it. I buy whatever 5w30 dino oil change special is on sale of the major brands. Still runs almost as good as the day I bought it (173K miles).

Thanks for the tips. I just checked, and the reservoir is down to the full hot line. So the tech wasn't paying attention and filled to the wrong line apparently.

Re: No heat, bad thermostat?
Yes, both have been done several years ago. Hopefully I'm still good there. No smoke. I do remember them saying they topped off the coolant, so they may not have even attempted to see if there was any trapped air. I also saw a post about revving the engine a few times to purge the air from the ...

No heat, bad thermostat?
So on my way home Friday I smelled coolant, and when I checked it getting gas, the coolant was gone in the overflow and the radiator was low. I added some at home, and found the coolant elbow dripping from the water pump end. Took it to a garage Saturday and they replaced it. Now I've noticed lately ...

Re: HVAC Blower motor has a mind of its own
I'm on like 3 years with mine acting up. It works fine, but when it's really cold I usually have to smack the dash hard to get it to start up. I could tell this past year it's getting on it's last legs as it didn't blow as hard, and the heat doesn't really kick in until I turn it up above 80. I just ...

I got the Griot's last year. I like it so far, though I've only used it a couple times.

To go along with Ryan's tip on blowing off the water: when you rinse, take the nozzle off the hose and just let the water flow from the roof down. If the car is waxed, that will allow most of the water to just flow right off the car.

You might want to wash again with car soap after the clay if you aren't polishing. I usually have some streaking after using clay.

Re: Any suggestions on buffer
I don't know if they still make it, but Dewalt did have their own orbital buffer as well. But it was a bit more expensive than the Porter Cable. But if you go that route, they do have many orbital sanders, so make sure you look for one that has the variable speed control. I know several years ago ...

Re: Paint Problem around Gas Cap Door
I agree with the one idea about that hole in the gas fill area being the culprit. I've always noticed the area being wet if the roads were wet when I'd get gas, but it never dawned on me that it would be a problem. If you don't have rust yet, fill that hole before you do. About 2 1/2 years ago I ...

I second the Griots. If you wait for a sale, you can get it for close to the price of a PC with more power.

Can't go wrong with black, but I also think a really deep navy blue would look great as well.

Re: Headlight Clear Coat
They should have had clear on them to keep them from getting hazy when they were new. That's why when you restore your headlights they get cruddy looking so quickly, because when you sand them you take the clear off of them. The only way to make those lights look 100% would be to sand the rest of ...

"Clear coat safe, the formula creates a brilliant, high gloss finish by conditioning and nourishing paint through the replenishment of valuable oils"
Key words there. I'd be willing to bet that stuff just fills in the scratches due to the oils. The Klasse then seals it in for a while, but then once ...

Re: Headlight restoration without tools, installed pics post
Looks good. I've been thinking of trying it. If I don't miss my guess (been a while since I read the threads on this), but doesn't it work better by not polishing? I seemed to recall the urethane really needs a rough surface for proper bonding.

Re: What the ?%@!
I'm guessing you have scratches yet. I can see them to the right of your head in the 1st "washed and clayed" picture. And if all you used was wax this time, you wouldn't have removed any scratches.

Re: how long is the bolt on the front sway bar link ?
Just get the little kit with four (swaybar/end link) bushings. I think I used three of them. One under the head, one on top of the hockey pucks, and one on top of the bracket under the nuts. Get an 8" bolt.
