Would a GXP Bonneville front bumper cover match up and fit a 2000 SSEi?
Just cusious. I like the GXP's looks better and mine needs re-painted anyway.

Re: Hard shifting and whining trans...need advice
not terribly different. It was around 55 degrees outside when the hard shifts started. This morning it was probably 45. I thought of that too...the only thing I can think of was the day it shifted hard I was driving a bit more aggressively as the commute home on 95/495 is completely bonkers...I ...

Re: Hard shifting and whining trans...need advice
Yes, whining was gone too...very weird. It seems to make sense w/the heat soaking solenoid.

Hard shifting and whining trans...need advice
On my way home tonight I was cruising along and then hit stop n go traffic...then the trans started shifting really hard from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3...not so much from 3 to 4..but it's there slightly. The other thing that jumped out at me was the whining noise...a lot like the Supercharger whine...it ...

Re: random non performance related question
I wish I could have been in the design room with all the engineers when they thought of this...
I always use the cup holder while charging my phone...maybe I'll try this.

Re: random non performance related question
Your OnStar button shouldn't do anything, OnStar went to digital signal instead of analog sometime around 04-05ish IIRC...One more reason I took the antenna off... As for the outlet, do you have pictures? I'm not in cars without sunroofs much and when I am, I'm not usually looking around up there ...

random non performance related question
My 2000 SSEI does not have a sun roof. There is the sunglasses holder and just in front of that a small cubby and there is a door that faces the cubby opening that reveals a 12v outlet. For the life of me I can't figure out what that would be used for, anybody have a clue?
Also, my rearview has ...

Re: should I road force balance?
I still suspect control arm bushings for the shake but have no proof. I think that is the issue as I have seen people replace everything that rotates and they still have the shake even after a road force balance, only other thing I can think of being able to cause the issue is those bushings.
The ...

Re: should I road force balance?
also, do any other GM Cars with this motor trans experience the same shimmy? If yes, that would point more toward the trans analogy I suppose.

Re: should I road force balance?
Thanks for all the ideas....I just got the car 2 weeks ago so I have no clue about what parts have been replaced, but I do know the tires are a Firestone, I'll look at the model name next time I drive it. They have really good tread on the fronts and at least 65 to 70% on the rears. Mileage is 89k ...

should I road force balance?
I've read about all I could find on the 65 to 75 mph "shimmy". I've got it. Today I shifted into Neutral and while the shaking did lessen a bit, it was still present so I can't help but think a balance would be in order. Luckily there's a shop in my town that offers road force balancing...for $20 ...

Re: Chugging while accelerating on hills
It just seems like when boost is applied it's going to act like a suction pump to any vac leaks that may be present...pulling in more air than the computer was expecting, causing it to adjust very quickly on the fly...I don't know, it just seemed like the engine was trying to figure itself out while ...

Re: Chugging while accelerating on hills
To further throw a wrench into this conversation...I just bought a 2000 ssei and I had low boost issues due to a sticking BCA shaft. I drive from Northern VA to Baltimore (140 miles round trip) three times per week. The engine only has about 25k miles on it, the car has 89k. When I was driving it ...

Re: New to me 2000ssei few questions - FIXED!
Don't take the supercharger belt off, all that tells you is that the engine has no balls w/o a supercharger. Even if his bypass was stuck wide open it would be much quicker with the belt on.

Re: New to me 2000ssei few questions
I'm going to fix it Friday...on my way home last night I got my ass handed to me by a Mini Cooper S...this must stop now. I already hate anybody who drives a mini and I hate it even more when they're passing me as I have the throttle matted. Boost gauge won't go past +1...Hopefully a lubed BCA shaft ...
