Re: Back in the day...

Here's the ad for my car from the first owner. I bought it from a neighbor in 2000 with 100k miles for $5000.

Re: 1997 Non electronic climate control blower issue

This is my experience:
77 Chevy K20 - bad blower motor
80 Steiger (same as a corvette) - burned resistor pack (x3-4)
86 Pontiac 6000 - burned plug on the resistor pack
90 Chevy C70 - bad blower motor
93 Bonneville - bad blower controller module x2
96 Chevy 6500 - bad blower motor

Re: 1997 Non electronic climate control blower issue

It could be the motor, especially if it's noisy when it runs. That's where I'd start, replaced a lot of them. I'm not familiar with your olds, but it could also be the connections behind the fan knob, fuse block, motor, or resistor pack which on my car would be inside the airbox under the hood ...

Re: Pennzoil woes?

Another odd coincidence, the oil pressure sensor started spraying oil out of the plug end a couple days ago. I replaced the sensor but haven't changed the oil yet.

Update: I changed the oil back to Castrol last week and it did quiet down.

Re: Pennzoil woes?

The only vehicle getting cheap oil is the camaro right now, it leaks about 1 quart a week out of the new rear main oil seal...

Ha! My wife's '09 Accord burns a quart per 1000mi (no leaks, the block is DRY), so i dump in whatever I can find...which is is always Deere 15w40. We buy it 200gal at a ...

Re: Pennzoil woes?

The oil filter is Delco PF47, i've used this filter many times before. I prefer Mobil1 filters, but we had extra [quite new] PF47s on hand. Perhaps it has a bad check valve? I don't know, but the cluster shows full oil pressure as soon as it finishes the startup gauge sweep.

I've only ever used ...

Pennzoil woes?

I'm a member of the oil-is-oil club, but i've always used Castrol 10w30 conventional High-Mileage. Last week I went to buy it and it was $28/jug, while Pennzoil was $17/jug, and buy one get one 50% off so i got it.

I'm not making this up, the valve train clatters for a minute or more after startup ...

Re: Digital dash problems help!

With the cluster being new, you might have to start by re-springing the individual pins of the dash connector. Maybe add dielectric grease when you put it back together?

My car behaves the same way...i tried to take the cluster out a few weeks ago but gave up, couldn't figure out how to get it out ...

I love that body style. 69k? What a find. I just tried to talk my wife into replacing her rusted, oil burning 09 Accord with one. She's not having it :(

Re: TPS

Can't really help, but I did buy a TPS from carquest that only lasted a month. It might be worth returning for a replacement. In my case (series 1) the engine died every time i touched the throttle.

Re: 1993 SSE: 17 years of pictures to replace photobucket lo

We dated in HS but I didn't convince her to marry me until three years ago. When i bought the car I remember hoping she'd like it! First time i took her home from HS I had Carry On Wayward Son queued up on the CD player.

She still doesn't care much for the car though.

Re: Replacing headlight switch

Yep the Standard Motor Products DS656 switch screws right on the back of the twilight sentinel part. No need to find the discontinued DS657. Check out the filings and/or corrosion on my old dimmer.

I wanted to remove the cluster and clean the connections for my intermittent DIC, but couldn't get ...

I waited to long to do this. The switch for auto headlamps is no longer available. Can the switch for manual headlights be piggybacked on to the back of my automatic part of the switch?

Thanks again for the compliments. 94NAsta, glad to see you're still at work on your car. I just skimmed through your build thread, man you've done a bunch to it!!
