Difficulty of replacing a whole sway bar?
Hey all, I know I've been gone for a while, but I haven't forgotten the club. Just spent a lot of time getting through college, and also owned a Nissan for just under a year. But I just got a 98 oldsmobile intrigue with high miles for pretty cheap. Now I'm facing a lot of it's problems, so I'll ...

Do you by chance have another key you could try? It might help narrow down the problem to VATS

Re: a/c issues, 93 park ave
I feel invincible in fixing cars. 2 summers ago when i had my bonneville, i paid a shop to fix the a/c at the price of $371, and it broke like a month later. So i bought some r-134 and fixed it myself for under $40 and it worked perfectly. That's kinda why I'm skeptical, but this seems more ...

Re: Grand Am Monsoon Rear Speaker
Try ebay, craigslist, or car-part.com?
If you're just looking for a speaker, I'm sure it will go broader than grand am and alero. Those would be the best direct-fit ones, but I can't imagine a 6x9 in a truck or SUV would be that different.

Re: 1993 SSE needs tune-up. Please advise
Aside from any mechanical issues and tire pressure, driving style has a major impact on fuel economy. I'm not saying your neighbor is driving a certain way, but that's always something to consider.

Re: a/c issues, 93 park ave
If it's low on refrigerant overall, wouldn't hooking up the can and recharging it fix that?

Re: a/c issues, 93 park ave
Today I disconnected the battery to let the electronics reset. The compressor then started doing the same thing as before, kicking on and off 5-6 times, then stopping. I hooked up the gauge, and it showed high pressure (like 60s), then it would drop to the 20s when the compressor kicked on, and back ...

Re: a/c issues, 93 park ave
Also, I want to confirm, you are checking the pressure while the compressor is running correct? Or was the 40 psi reading at rest?
The compressor won't kick on anymore. I tried the redneck fix. I'm not certain if I made a solid connection or not, but it did nothing. This weekend, if i get time, I ...

Cleared the code, and it came RIGHT back.
The only gauge I have is the one on top of the can. It's showing in the 40's on the low side

There is a sticker under the hood that says it was retrofitted, and has a time and date, and IIRC a shop name. It was there when I got the car

a/c issues, 93 park ave
I'll try to keep this brief. Went all last summer without a/c. Had a mechanic friend try to pump in some refrigerant, but it appears the system already has some in it.

Re: squeaking noise
"A squeak" is a little broad. Can you isolate the noise? Can you find a way to replicate the noise while it is parked? If it is a strut, or even suspension at all, it is possible it will make the same squeak if you sit on the body of the car to raise and lower it

misfire/bogging/backfire
My 93 Park Ave has been fairly good to me over the 2 years i've had it, and lately it's been feeling bogged down. It seems to only happen when it's wet out (i.e., raining), and when it's freshly started. However, after it's warmed up, it still does it; just not as much. also, if i am gunning it, it ...

Re: Can anyone help with my HVAC problems ?
There is a problem with the airmix door actuator (probably), it is a common problem with these vehicles.
For the 2nd problem, having it only aim at windshield and floor, I found in my bonneville that this was caused by a vacuum leak. The doors that open and close are controlled by the engine's ...

Re: do you top-off your gas tank?
I go one or two after the first click off. Or i'll go up to the next dollar. I don't have the patience to sit there and hold the nozzle halfway
The reason you can keep going after the first click is that most fuel tanks/filler necks are designed to keep the tank at about 80% of its capacity, to ...

Re: Wiring to and from ECC, 93 Park Ave
On top of it not dimming, i consistently get the code on my ECC that says "Data line failure - PCM". Also my Haynes manual has two of the wires in the diagram as "PCM data line".
Also, I'm not working on a bonneville. It's my car in my signature, 1993 Buick Park Ave
