Is that mixed, city, or highway?
Almost all city miles but a few 6 mile trips on the freeway here and there. I was just curious as to what I should be getting because I have seen numerous bonnevilles for sale claiming 30mpg and close to that. Also My brothers 1997 Grand Prix SE (3.8) gets around ...

Getting only 21.5 miles per gallon on a 1996 Bonneville SE
Hey guys,
For a long time I was getting like 16 mpg and everytime I started it she bogged and spit and sputtered and blew smoke for a few seconds until I gaver her some throttle and cleared the cylinders. The codes read crank sensor input so we replaced the crank sensor. That did nothing and we ...

I am on Amsoil.com and there is the amsoil filter for $38.10 and also a WIX filter for $10.95. I have never heard of WIX before? Does amsoils filter add HP like the K&N is suppose to? It doesn't say anywhere that it does.

Re: Whats the best performance upgrade one can do to a N/A 3800?
Hey I did it and Am going to install it tonight and get that crappy ebay hunk outta there! I am now thinking of wrapping the stock air box in that Reflectix stuff from menards to help with heat. What else could I do? Does any one sell any high flow air filters that fit into the stock box?
Thanks ...

Do you have any more pics of that? did you buy that as a kit or make it? it looks so clean. It looks a lot simpler than making a big ass fiberglass box too.Roadtech195 wrote:That blue thing is my heat shield for my filter. fully enclosed so no hot air gets in. sorry for hijacking the thread...

Forget even using that filter if you plan on shielding it.
I'll bet you that filter will hold water. Try it. APC brand? Not marked? Give us a link to your auction/seller etc or a pic you have of the intake.

Re: Whats the best performance upgrade one can do to a N/A 3800?
Hey I Installed the cheap ebay intake and I see exactly what you mean by useless. The filter itself got almost too hot to touch after only a short drive. It was like 92 degrees Fahrenheit outside today too so that wasn't helping the situation. I'll probably just throw the stock box back on until I ...

Many L36's here have used the 3.5" FWI and are very happy with it. Get someone to compare 3" to 3.5" on the same car to settle that.
My opinion? The 3" is a proven good size for the L27, and the L36 moves more air (because it revs and shifts at higher rpm's) and revs quicker (needs to develop ...

Re: 1996 ssei pcm relocation upadated and relocated
I just ordered a poser CAI from ebay and am completley regretting it. I havn't gotten it yet but I will have it tomorrow. I realize now that I will still be sucking in warm air and thats no good. I am probably going to copy your design except for a few mods. I will get the flexible intake tubing ...
