Re: Head gasket?
Sorry for being dim, but are those tests expensive to run? I'm sure the shop can run them but I'd want to know what's reasonable to expect in terms of price. The coolant level is not dropping and the oil seems OK. Burns some but it's not bad. Drove all the way from Minneapolis to Roanoke, 1200 miles ...

Re: Head gasket?
Well. Nothing revealed by the scan, although a small scanner rather than the big expensive one was used. Just the same evap code that we've been unable to solve for about five or six years. He said that the symptoms of head gasket fail mentioned above would only be occurring when the situation was ...

Re: Head gasket?
Heading over to the shop now to get it scanned. This would be the third time in past 5 years for doing the LIM if that is the culprit. Andrew suspected that the detailed preparation protocols that are in the Club's how-to for the LIM were not, ahem, followed closely. Probably right on that one.
The ...

Head gasket?
I have a 2001 SE with 244,xxx miles. I've had it since it had 26,xxx and have fixed every single issue immediately, including regular summer visits to Andrew in Browerville, MN. Engine has been running rough at idle. Just this year I've replaced the EGR, CAT, Ignition coils, ignition module, all six ...

Re: Suspension parts recommendation
Thanks for the reply. But should I get the hydraulic or solid front mount? Yes, the system was bled ( an hour's shop time for that). But car still idles very harsh until warm and even after. There is an evap leak (dash message) which I keep failing to fix despite several tries over the past few ...

Suspension parts recommendation
Hey Everyone,
I need a front right motor mount, front sway bar mounting bushings, and outer tie rod. I have Andrew's boat mount for the trans mount. Should I replace both motor mounts even if only one is recommended? They were installed at the same time. For the mounts, RockAuto has Westar hydraulic ...

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge erratic
Thanks. But I still can't see it in RockAuto. Looked under Electrical Switch and Relay but the only thing under oil pressure is the oil pressure switch socket tool.

Oil Pressure Gauge erratic
While driving yesterday, my pressure gauge suddenly went to 0. The car seemed to be working fine. Got a check gauges message. After a couple of minutes, indicator started climbing to about 60 and then went back down to around 38. My shop says I need an Oil Pressure Gauge Switch which is thirty some ...

Rear suspension
On my 2001 Bonneville se I did the front suspension with quick struts a few months ago. I think the rear shocks need to be changed, too. I have the ride leveling suspension with the fe-1 shocks. Should I get them again. They are about twice as expensive as the Monroe air shocks. According to the ...

Re: Tracking and Antilock again
My mechanic replaced the wheel hub again and put some goo somewhere in the hub or wheel to help with a connection. Everything was fine for the rest of December and January. But last night I hit a small bump and the system went out again. I turned the engine off and the system reset but I'm anxious ...

Valve cover leak
A year and a half ago I replaced my lower and upper intakes. Now my mechanic says there is a valve cover leak. There does seem to be an intermittent fuel smell. Now there was a cracked plastic elbow that I had to have replaced just before the New Year in December after persistent coolant leaking ...

Re: Tracking and Antilock again
Well, the ABS/Tracking doesn't shut down unless there is a jolt to the system. Usually. Although I remember the system going off last year without a jolt. But then why did replacing the hub solve the problem for a year? And why did replacing it again this past Wednesday solve the problem until today ...

Re: Tracking and Antilock again
My mechanic got a new one from Advance when I had it in the shop this past Wednesday.
I should also add that if I turn off the car, the lights do not go on again when I start up and the car works fine. Until I hit a bump or something and need the system to work, that is. There's a lot of ...

Tracking and Antilock again
A year ago the tracking and anti-lock lights on my 2001 SE would come on intermittently over big bumps or, it seemed, in very wet or wet and snowy weather. Scan at Advance indicated right wheel signal. I replaced the wheel hub and the problem disappeared. For the past few weeks the lights have ...
