Re: Same Car, Different Problem

It seems to me that you have an electrical (ignition) problem. I'm not sure how to test for it, but I think someone else will chime in. It may need a new ignition switch.

Re: we got the 99 SSE

Lets deal with your profile signature first.

If you want a pic of your car at the bottom of all your posts, you first need to upload that pic to a photo server via a program such as Photobucket or Flickr or any one of a dozen others. Once that pic has been uploaded, when you click on it to view it ...

Re: we got the 99 SSE

Thanks for the info! I replaced the upper intake manifold with the newer modified versions. Also did the LIM gaskets. Ported and polished the LIM based on info in this forum. I store it in the winter and only put a little over 1K miles on it in the summer. I have thought about selling it, but it is ...

Re: MagnaFlow Smell?

Thanks for the reply guys. I didn't think it was anything serious, as there is no performance issue. It is just annoying and I was wondering if it was a common occurrence.

Re: MagnaFlow Smell?

If the cat was plugged, I'm certain there would be performance issues. It runs like a watch. I put it on in 2008 and have only put 4000 miles on since then as I only drive it a bit in the summer. Maybe it just hasn't been run enough. The smell only lasts for a minute or so just after I jump on it.

MagnaFlow Smell?

I installed a MagnaFlow HiFlow cat on my 1999 SSE about 4,000 miles ago. Since that time, if I am at highway speed and punch the accelerator to pass or for whatever reason, I smell something like rotten eggs or sulfur. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any idea why this is ...

Re: How do I get nominated for COTM?!

OK, I got it now. No, I wasn't trying for COTM, just wanted some pics for others to see.
No ghost, I'm still kicking but have not been on here for a long time. Still have the SSE though. It's got 112,000 miles on it now.

Re: How do I get nominated for COTM?!

I created an album and uploaded pics, but it is not in the Gallery. The album exists and I can view it. How do I get it to appear in the gallery page for all to see?

Re: Need Parts...Help

My first try would be the salvage yard for the vents and latches. They should be the same through 1999.

Re: fwi

Really pretty simple. I've heard some say they had to take fender filler off....I didn't. I was able to work filter into hole. Couple of plastic ties and it was ready to go. It is an Intense FWI. Most on the forum believe it is the best way to go if you are going to do a FWI. Here's pic of finished ...

Re: fwi

Here's some pics of mine. The pcm is up front and canister is out of the hole, allowing the filter to go in there.

This is from my 1999 SSE. I don't know how much different yours is. The filter goes through the hole where the canister was.

Re: 99 SSEi in Cave Creek

They are very honest when talking to them and are nice folks. The car belonged to the guys Dad up in New Jersey and I think he was 90 and recently quit driving or passed away.

Re: 99 SSEi in Cave Creek

It's pretty clean. I had a friend that just happened to be in Phoenix stop up and check it out. He is a motorhead and knows his cars. It has a few chips and scratches on the paint and there is a funny dent in the corner by the moonroof that looks weird. The deal breaker for me at the price they are ...

It's a twin to my SSE. If nobody here is gonna buy it, I'd be interested in what it checked out to be like.

Do you live in or near Fon Du Lac?

Is there anybody living in or near Fon Du Lac Wisconsin that would be willing to check out a car at a dealership for me? I’m in the Minneapolis area and it is quite a drive to Fond Du Lac.

Thanks. The car runs great. I just had never read what the acceptable readings were, and was curious if mine were in range.
