Thanks for the reply guys. I didn't think it was anything serious, as there is no performance issue. It is just annoying and I was wondering if it was a common occurrence.

If the cat was plugged, I'm certain there would be performance issues. It runs like a watch. I put it on in 2008 and have only put 4000 miles on since then as I only drive it a bit in the summer. Maybe it just hasn't been run enough. The smell only lasts for a minute or so just after I jump on it.

My first try would be the salvage yard for the vents and latches. They should be the same through 1999.

Really pretty simple. I've heard some say they had to take fender filler off....I didn't. I was able to work filter into hole. Couple of plastic ties and it was ready to go. It is an Intense FWI. Here's some pics of mine. The pcm is up front and canister is out of the hole, allowing the filter to go in there.

This is from my 1999 SSE. I don't know how much different yours is. The filter goes through the hole where the canister was.

They are very honest when talking to them and are nice folks. The car belonged to the guys Dad up in New Jersey and I think he was 90 and recently quit driving or passed away.
