Yea, the hose is a poor measure of system temp. If you can get a fix on the thermostat housing, that would be beter.

Thats what i did to mine. Puled the ABS controll fuse. If you pull the fuse for the pump by mistake, you get to stop 5 or 6 times before losing power assist. Do test drive before letting your girlfriend/wife take it anywhere

Other cars use the same system. My brothers 89 ElDorado has the same unit as my bonneville. But even when they work they are junk. If you swap for a real master cylinder and booster, post back on how it went.
