horn brush

The horn in our 97 Lesabre is intermittent. By using a test light, I have determined that there is power to the green horn wire for both horns. It appears that the hron switch operates reliably. However, when I hold the horn switch and turn the steering wheel, the light blinks. I keep firm pressure ...

Re: Steering Wheel controls & JVC KW-XR610

This last update is information that many who have already installed aftermarket stereos in these cars are probably already aware of. For those who have not yet installed stereos in these cars and are searching for answers, I did not find the solution on any forum, nor in the installation ...

Re: Steering Wheel controls & JVC KW-XR610

I solved the dimming auto function for the JVC. The JVC display will dim when headlights are turned on. However, the installation manual doesn't tell you what kind of dimming signal is required so I originally connected it to the variable incandescent dimming wire (gray wire, pin F4 of the 99 ...

Re: Steering Wheel controls & JVC KW-XR610

If anyone does have any work arounds for the 1999 dimming of the HVAC display, I'm interested. It would be interesting if anyone has found the work around for the HVAC steering wheel controls, but I'm satisfied with the reassignment via the Axxess ASWC.

Re: Steering Wheel controls & JVC KW-XR610

I installed the JVC yesterday. I was hoping I could maintain HVAC VF dimming and HVAC temperature controls with the new JVC. After reading the following thread
http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18168&p=194007&hilit=JVC#p194007
I figured it would be possible to jumper ...

Steering Wheel controls & JVC KW-XR610

My new JVC KW-XR610 will be arriving this week. I'm doing some preplanning so that I don't get too surprised when I actually do the install.

I already know that HVAC steering wheel controls and VF dimming are in series with the OEM radio. If I'm lucky, the enclosed connector and Axxess have the ...

Re: to block or not to block UIM coolant

I'm not talking about leakage from the EGR. I'm talking about leakage from the throttle body gasket. This kind of leakage seems to be far less common, but does happen:

to block or not to block UIM coolant

I've got my hands on two ATP UIM from APN, ready to install early this summer. I'm now trying to decide whether or not I should plug the coolant ports that feed the UIM. As I understand it, the only purpose for the coolant in the throttle body it to prevent the throttle from freezing up in cold ...

Re: Answering a 4T65 question via PM

I know it's a 99 you're talking about, but according to the 97 FSM it's not necessary to remove the steering gear.

For the 97 Lesabre:
1) support vehicle
2) Support transaxle with jackstand.
3) Remove steering box assembly to frame bolts.
4) Remove frame to mount nuts.
5) Remove mount to transaxle ...

Re: Answering a 4T65 question via PM

My 99 will get the shift kit because it has the 4T65e. The 97 has no transaxle issues at this time.

Re: Answering a 4T65 question via PM

Thanks Lesabre,

I've got the Transgo shift kit ready to install this summer. I really don't feel like pulling axles and dropping engine cradles just to install the valve body portion of the kit. Besides, it'll be more important to do my UIM and LIM.

Re: Oil Pan Smushed-What to do?

Did you use a jack under it? That is why it is recommended to put a board between the jack and pan.

Anyways, you could probably get a pan pretty cheap from a JY. The best thing to do would be to drop the pan and check out the pick-up. The gasket should be reuseable if it was the metal frame rubber ...

Re: Can a HVAC programmer for 94-99 be rebuilt?

Willwren, if he's already replaced his programmer, it's logical to assume he already knows where it is on a Bonneville. I posted the article because it appears to be a common problem with programmers, and something to consider during diagnosis.

Ditto on the PS stop leak. I added it to my wife's car 2 years ago thinking I'd have to replace the unit the following summer anyway. It's still fine.

Re: Possible brake issue?

Your tires age has nothing to do with it. What are they, and what area do you live in?

fuelforthesoul posted the article for you. ;)

If you're trying to brake in the snow with all seasons or bald tires, it will require less braking force to cause wheels to lock up. If the wheels tend to lock up ...

Re: Possible brake issue?

If your ABS is engaging so easily, my immediate question would be how good are your tires, or, are your tires appropriate for the roads you're on?

My ABS would engage quite easily with my General all seasons, which probably should be replaced. I couldn't get the ABS to engage with my new winter ...
